- warwickwiddlerlowton82 contributionsOur son was married in Melbourne Parish Church at the weekend and it was a wonderful experience for the Bride, Groom, all the family and friends. This is a very warm and welcoming church, and the Rector (Steve) made everyone feel at ease and very happy, and conducted a lovely service. Melbourne is so lucky to have such a fantastic church and church family at the heart of their community! Truly magnificent and worthy of comparison to any cathedral.Written July 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChrisHinckley, UK952 contributionsWe decided to stop here and have a walk as the weather was good. We had a walk around here and walked the path to Calke Abbey and back which is a good walk through fields which were muddy in parts so walking boots/wellies are best to wear. There are different walking routes around here. The car park is a good size, and there is toilets here and a small cafe. There is a kids play area also. There was some dog poo in places along the path so need to be carefulWritten March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - warwickwiddlerlowton82 contributionsEnjoyed a wonderful celebration on the occasion of our Son's wedding last weekend. Beautiful and historic venue operated to the benefit of the community. Great facilities including a well-appointed function room, with very well-appointed bar in a separate room, lounge with separate kitchen and various other rooms. Andy and the guys and girls in the bar made us very welcome and helped us out at every stage of the day (and evening!). Can't thank them enough. Also, very very clean. Great sound system and spacious dance floor with beamed ceiling (almost like Hogwarts!). Usually a house ale on draught which I can attest is very nice! Very good choice of spirits, shorts and single malt whiskies. What a great venue, and long may it continue to be an asset to Melbourne.Written July 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alfred AHertfordshire66 contributionsWe visited with two adults, a twelve year old and a ten year old and we all had a lovely time. The visit was planned in advance so that we could meet the lambs and groom the rabbits and guinea pigs, the information for all of this was on their web site.
The animals are all very friendly and full of character. Animal feed is available to buy to feed them with.
The farm does seem to be mostly aimed at younger children, there is a play are for them and toys. Our children were a bit too old for that but they all still enjoyed the visit.
Be aware that some of the farm was rather muddy, the paths around the animals are not paved. Boot cleaning facilities were provided and this wasn't a problem, but we all had footwear we didn't mind getting dirty and wet.
Our visit took about three hours.
I think we will make a return trip as we're quite local to this, even as an adult this would be a lovely place to sit down and have a cup of tea and to meet the animals.Written April 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raffiella11Leicestershire, UK4,785 contributionsThis was our first visit to The Gallery, just walking by we decided to pop in, so glad we did, we were totally blown away by its fabulous paintings all by local artists
The entrance is at the side of the road, when entering we were made very welcome.
So much to see, where to start - fabulous selection on the groundfloor of very individual very unique birthday cards, prints of different sizes, small aray of pottery, and numeroues paintings.
After climbing the stairs (there is a chair lift) you are not prepared for what you are about to see. Wow, of wow!!! on this floor their is a huge array of paintings, each exhibition has a theme. When we visited it was Coast, so boats, the sea scapes etc and August is is Hot. All the impressive paintings are by local artists.
The mezannine floor is where various workshops take place in the week where local artists with passion and skill will help you realise your potential

Always a great selection of beers and great snacks to enjoy alongside. Staff always happy to help, I usually ask for a recommendation rather than choosing myself and I haven't been disappointed yet. Something for everyone. Will always enjoy a visit 😊Written May 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - revhhhhhSouth Zealand, Denmark8 contributionsIf you like your porter, make sure you try the kraken! Loved everything about this microbar - the manager loves his beer and worked for the brewery so knows his stuff and is passionate about his bar and customers in Melbourne. It’s a lovely place to spend time, with great beers, ciders and more and a really friendly atmosphere - we love it and will be back - thank you!Written March 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
