Decked out for Christmas. Great brunch and service. Table cloth and cloth napkins. Beautiful grounds and the mansion is fun to explore.

An excellent little gambling museum on the main street of Locke. Nice pictures and exhibits. It would have been nicer if they give a history of the brothel too. Maybe next time.

They grow all their own grapes. Beautiful outdoor setting. Picnic tables to sit at and enjoy a bottle of their wine. Bring along some cheese, crackers, and deli meat. Friendly and dog friendly too! Can't wait to visit in the spring.

Locke was established in 1915 and is the only rural Chinese Community left in the United States.
It has been 8 years Since we last visited Locke and what great improvements they have made. Everyone was so helpful and courteous. They now have additional parking and have added new attractions. You must stop first at the Boarding House Museum and speak with Anita, she is wonderful. Then start down the street for a fantastic tour back in history. If you are hungry try Al the Whops for a drink and great steak.

This is one of the newest items on the street, dedicated in 1990 to the Chinese immigrants. It is peaceful if you just want to rest for a while.

The Jan Ying Association Museum is the actual building that served as the meeting and social center for Locke"s Chinese population back in the early 1900's. The museum has authentic furnishings that provide a glimpse of the life and culture of the immigrants who settled in the Sacramento River Delta and contributed much to the agricultural development. Very educational and should be part of your tour of Locke if you are interested in California and Chinese-American history.

This is a place that has not changed probably in years. Everywhere you look there is something from the past and present. Bras hanging from animals heads, money tacked to the ceiling. Oh! And peanut butter to put on everything that is served. Great funky atmosphere. A Delta Classic.

Scene: Late night soak in a hand restored Japanese bath house in the middle of the Delta. Sounded great, romantic, relaxing... it had been a long week. a long soak sounded great. We just had no idea what we were in for. walking into this room, everything... I've rewritten this part five times already... it was really the most remarkably relaxing, soul cleaning experience. the world stopped. everything was good. stress left, but deep fundamental stress left. soaking pools, saunas and salt scrubs, cool showers and everything smelled so good. Silent perfection. It felt like floating by the time we walked out.
The building is restored to just about its original state, building off historic pictures and reusing or matching the original materials. The front room is an art gallery that held a kimono exhibit. The bath holds a tradition that somehow you end up feeling. I've been to Bath Houses before, and they are cool and all, but this one... We are already planning our next trip back.
