What travelers are saying
- Patty6-13Davis, CA538 contributionsThis is a fascinating museum with plenty of English if you don’t read or speak Spanish. The Incan practice of sacrificing children is both horrific and fascinating. Finding these 3 intact mummies in such good condition is amazing. Plan on less than an hour to see it all and do visit the gift shop. They have some unique items I didn’t see anywhere else.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patty6-13Davis, CA538 contributionsA beautiful cathedral to be seen during the day and lighted up at night! It oversees the main square and should not be missed.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patty6-13Davis, CA538 contributionsI had a wonderful private tour just today with a guide who spoke English. The tour behind the scenes is fascinating, so much history here. Do climb to the top of the bell tower for wonderful views of the city. It is said to be the tallest tower in all of South America! Many thanks to my lovely guide for taking just me.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you are out and about with a rental car, definitely worth a quick stop. There are several artisans selling their craft, lots of tour buses. The cheese tortillas sold nearby are fabulous!!!Written December 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alicia LBuenos Aires, Argentina113 contributionsI went on pilgrimage to visit the virgin on the hill. The weather was very cold and it rained but nothing stopped thousands of believers to hear mass and receive the blessing of the quietness and peacefulness of the place. The tiny chapel built to honor the virgin and the tree in front of it where people leave rosaries as testimony of faith are images set in my mind for ever. The visit really filled my heart with joy!Written November 28, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BerthakiArequipa, Peru256 contributionsThis hill is the best place to have a panoramic view of the city. It's easy to get there using the cablecar or if you are more athletic, you can climb all the way there. There's a statue of St. Bernard, a cross, and Christ. You can also enjoy the local species of trees and the artificial waterfalls. There are some souvenir shops with the same prices at the fair downstairs at San Martin square.Written November 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lawrence S18 contributionsThis is a very interesting and unusual museum that tells the history of the impact that General Guemes had in the war for independence. Through a series of narratives accompanied by visual presentations, I learned about a critical historical figure. The museum was cleverly put together and well worth a visit if you are interested in this sort of thing. The admission charge was 6,000 pesos.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- carito c2 contributionsRestaurants with traditional folk music are opened every night. Singers and dancers offer shows and cheer the customers. The fun-loving atmosphere invites tourist of all over Argentina and the world to enjoy an unforgettable night of music and regional dishes.
When the restaurants are not open a craft market shares its art with local and foreign people every Friday and Saturday afternoon. Not only clothes but traditional sweets and decorations can be found along this amazing street.Written February 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
