- Ali921Edinburgh, UK1,502 contributionss this one any better than the others...no idea. Go up as many as you can and then enjoy the walk down. They are only 100 or 300 pesos each way. And boy, they are steep, no wonder they built them when there were no houses along the shore. This is located between Plaza de la Justicia, a quiet place in downtown Valpo and Paseo Yugoslavo. It has a sightseeing balcony with a vista of the bay and mountains.Written February 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ali921Edinburgh, UK1,502 contributionsI struggle to tell the difference between the funiculars. Just enjoyed going up them and walking down, savings my legs. Better to enjoy the streets and buildings without feeling tired. Only 100 pesos one way. Except I have forgotten which one was 300 pesos (oh the cost....).Written January 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ali921Edinburgh, UK1,502 contributionsPart of the city which is designated by UNESCO. Take funicular up and just walk about the narrow streets, getting lost and enjoying the "art" and buildings.
Great views of the harbour when you there.Written January 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 631BarbaraMInwood, WV193 contributionsThis museum, in a very majestic former home, is a total jewel. Features European and Chilean art spanning the 18th to the 20th centuries. The house is incredible in and of itself and you will marvel at the bathroom with shower and tub from a time gone by. The garden surrounding the palace is lovely to sit in and catch your breath before climbing up the many staired hills. You must have the 4,000 Chilean pesos in cash to enter, no credit cards.Written March 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andries1 contributionThe owners use the house to present the history of South America, Chile and Vlaparaiso in a wonderful way. You can only be impressed by the amount of care and hard work that has gone into the project, and by the enthusiasm of the presenters. A most enjoyable visit, highly recommended.Written April 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Peter MSan Antonio, TX6 contributionsThis is a must see for any visitor to Chile to get an idea of the maritime history of the nation, from Independence to the Chilean War of the Pacific (1879-1884) to the present day.

- JensAntwerp, Belgium86 contributionsVery good and well-maintained museum, beautifully and knowledgeably designed. It’s only in Spanish though and rather focused on kids than adults with simple explanations. Still worth a (free) visit though if you’re passing (like us).Written February 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
