- 234stevenzAuckland Central, New Zealand110 contributionsThere are comments here about it being "not old" or touristy. Both are correct up to a point. It was recently rebuilt but with an impeccable eye to detail, such that it doesn't ever enter your mind that it isn't 100 years old. (Very few things in Qatar are.) There are tourists, sure, but it isn't "touristy"... unless tourists buy coils of hose, 100 litre aluminum pots, 20 kg of salt, falconer's supplies, or peach-faced lovebirds. It is kept very clean and there are lots of public toilets. When I was there the overwhelming majority of people were locals, judging from how they were dressed. (They may have been from other Islamic countries, of course.) The outdoor cafes are wonderful spots for leisurely dining and soaking up the atmosphere. The restaurants are dry, of course. The Falcon Souk is a bit removed from Souk Waqif, so you'll have to search it out. The buildings are absolutely gorgeous at night. Along with the National Museum and Museum of Islamic Art, the Souk is a must.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marge M1 contributionAs you step into its elegant embrace, you're immediately enveloped by an atmosphere of tranquility and historical grandeur, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey through the rich tapestry of Islamic heritage. The museum's architecture itself is a marvel to behold, with its sleek lines and timeless design seamlessly blending modernity with traditional Islamic motifs. As you wander through its halls, each adorned with intricate arabesques and geometric patterns, you're transported back in time to an era of unparalleled craftsmanship and aesthetic mastery. Interactive displays and multimedia installations invite visitors to engage with the art in new and meaningful ways, deepening their understanding of Islamic culture and history.Written March 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Suzana_81London, UK27 contributionsI have no words for how wonderful this museum is. Absolutely spectacular inside and outside. I love going to museums when visiting different places and this one is definitely one of my favourite ones. The history of Qatar is presented in an interesting and interactive way using multimedia. Stunning!!Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jennifer259Llanelli, UK486 contributionsThis is a four mile long promenade along the seashore. If the weather is not too hot then it is a lovely place to take in the views and ambiance of this busy metropolis.
To reach the Corniche waters edge you need to cross over what I thought was a very busy coastal link six lane fast moving highway . There are pedestrian walkways both underground as well as at ground level assisted by traffic lights.
Paying homage to it’s past there is a huge fountain in the shape of an open oyster shell with a pearl figure. I thought that this wa worth a look see.Written March 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tenthlistenSan Francisco, CA316 contributionsKatara Cultural Village was interesting to visit and it's located right next to a metro station. The timing of when one visits likely matters. I went in the middle of the day and it was quite empty. I was able to see the architecture of the village and the mosque, including a tour of the latter, but that was about it. There are shops and restaurants and it's a nice place to walk around for a bit, but I'm guessing that it would be more interesting if one visited during an event.Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tenthlistenSan Francisco, CA316 contributionsI enjoyed walking around The Pearl Island. It's mostly shops and restaurants, but it's very clean and easy to walk around. I took the metro and walked about 20-30 minutes to the main area. The canals are nice and it wasn't very crowded during the day. I found the visit worthwhile and would recommend it to others visiting Doha.Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VinnieLondonDoha, Qatar11,805 contributionsPark located next to Villagio mall and easily located in the Doha skyline by the Torch building/hotel ..especially lit up at night!. One of the main Qatar football stadiums (Khalifa) also located here. Visited the Hamad Aquatic Centre immediately behind the Torch building for the 2024 Aquatic (swimming at this venue) championships where I’ve also trained few times in 2024. Excellent Olympic sized modern pool and facilities. Great for big championship events as well as everyday public swimming/training. Lots of on site parking and Aziziya metro station around 10 minute walk from Aquatic centre/park. Food and drink facilities not great in swimming centre but lots of excellent restaurants in park and Villagio mall next door/around centre. Really well organised security and crowd handling for event.Written February 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rachel G6 contributionsMIA Park in Qatar is a real urban oasis. Perfect for a chill day out or a family picnic. Plus, the whole place is on point and seriously Instagram-worthy. The park's well-kept vibe and scenic beauty make it a top spot for a relaxed escape in the city. Definitely worth checking out!Written February 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GreyNomad2014Jannali, Australia889 contributionsVery grand this Imam Mohammed Bin Abdul Wahab Mosque, but unfortunately for me it was closed to visitors at the time I went. I should have checked their opening times.Written March 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
