The museum is very interesting as it has lots of Roman mosaics inside. It’s relatively straightforward to get to on public transport- take tram 4 from place de Barcelone (outside tunis main railway station). It takes about 15 mins and costs less than 1 TD. The trams can get busy so you will probably have to stand and I had to wait 30-40 mins for one back. There is a stop for the Bardo and from there you just walk across a big roundabout (with no pedestrian crossings) and round the corner to the museum.
The museum building itself looks a bit ugly as you seen to approach it from the back and can’t really walk around the grounds. Inside there are lots of interesting things to see so it is worth going. It has recently reopened after a long closure.

There’s lots of shops, the streets are narrow and busy. Shopkeepers aren’t too pushy. Be careful not to be robbed by pickpockets.

Drop by if you have the time. It is just at the end of the bazaar street of the medina. Non-muslims might have access issues to certain parts of the mosque. No entry fees charged.

It’s interesting to visit, the entrance is round the side and not from the Main Street at the front. It’s free to go in and it’s worth seeing. It’s no different to a church in Europe but an unusual thing to have in Tunisia.

My hotel was five minutes walk from this historical monument Bab al Bhar (Sea Gate) also called as Porte De France (Gate of France), this gate separates old city Medina with new Town, surrounded by shops, street food joints and adorned by a fountain, this is an important square also a meeting point for young and old. The Gate is decorated with aesthetically designed lights and looks fantastic. My guide told me that this was the point once the waters of the sea touched long long ago.

This avenue connects the Clock Tower with the Medina. Both sides of this avenue have barricades that make it less attractive. Restaurants and shops are present along this avenue.

I wondered how it might have looked without these barricades and military presence!

The blue doors look beautiful and we were explained of why there are three different size knobs on the door. Two above and one below.
The two above are respectively for male and female to knock so that owners of the house would know whether a male or female has come and one below is meant for kids.

The blue and white combination is just too too beautiful. Infact we dressed ourselves in blue and white in order to blend with the medina.

A fascinating glimpse of life in Ottoman times; a beautiful series of vaulted rooms containing the marble sarcophagi of many of the Beys and there families.
We were let in by a charming elderly gentleman who gave us an interesting tour (in French only).
My wife and I walked to the tourbet through the medina in the middle of the day and felt no unease whatever about our safety; most of the people we encountered were schoolchildren.

I was here in the afternoon and the wind picked up slightly. I was looking to snap some selfies in from the of the central monument. There is the townhall nearby and even the ministry of defense - watch out when clicking snaps!

Get there early and enjoy a taste of local market life.

Fresh veg, fruit, cheese, honey, nuts, dried fruits and herbs, fish and meat.
You’ll be awash with smells and sights that make you hate the supermarkets back home.

I visited it on a special occasion, liked the atmosphere but didn't enjoy the performance. You always need to check the background of the performers as it is used by many amateurs and fresh talents.
