. It is a world famous beach. The drive-in beach was amazing.
A lot of tourists visit there every day.It is a very unique experience.
We can easily ride on the beach where four wheelers and two wheelers are allowed. We can have fun. But you can still have fun. We have to be careful if we are going with kids because some crazy drivers drive around their vehicle like they are driving on some racetrack.
This place is definitely worth a visit. A park for children is also a little beyond. There is mostly a beach fest going on there. That time is very busy. I go there most of the time.

Payyambalam Beach is a beautiful beach located in Kannur, and is one of the city's major tourist attractions. It is a long beach, well suited for beach walking. Surfing and swimming are also options for those who are interested. This beach attracts plenty of visitors, but is surprisingly well maintained

    Serenity Amidst Tradition

My recent visit to the Raja Rajeshwara Temple in Kerala left an indelible impression on me. The temple, nestled amidst serene surroundings, exudes an aura of peace and spiritual tranquility that is truly unparalleled.

    Cultural Norms and Restrictions

One of the notable aspects of the temple is its strict adherence to certain cultural norms and traditions. For instance, the temple authorities prohibit the entry of children below the age of four. While some may find this restriction surprising, it is rooted in the belief of avoiding 'shuddhi karma,' a purification ritual that must be performed if a child urinates within the temple premises. While this may seem like a stringent rule, it serves to maintain the sanctity and purity of the sacred space.

Similarly, women are permitted entry only after 7:30 pm in the evening, and even then, they must carry a ghee lamp. This not only adds to the spiritual ambiance but also upholds age-old traditions that have been passed down through generations. Men are required to adhere to a specific dress code, wearing mundu or dhoti, and leaving their shirts outside. Convenient shelves are available for this purpose, ensuring that visitors can easily comply with the dress code requirements. Mobile/ ladies bags are not allowed , clock rooms are available too.

    Facilities and Accessibility

On the logistical front, the temple boasts excellent car parking facilities, making it convenient for visitors to park their vehicles without hassle. The well-organized parking space is a testament to the temple management's commitment to ensuring a seamless and pleasant experience for devotees.

    Final Thoughts

In summary, my visit to the Raja Rajeshwara Temple was a profoundly enriching experience that offered a blend of spiritual solace and cultural immersion. While the temple's adherence to certain rules and traditions may require visitors to familiarize themselves with its customs beforehand, it is these very traditions that contribute to its unique charm and authenticity. I would highly recommend this sacred place to anyone seeking a tranquil retreat and a deeper understanding of Kerala's rich cultural heritage.

Relatively clean, very less clouded, secluded beautiful beach with nice golden sand. We went in the afternoon and there was no-one around. The route leading to the beach is quite narrow and ends abruptly but since not many people go there its unlikely you’ll get stuck in traffic.
In case you want to spend long hours there, i recommend carrying your own food.

A historic 16th century Portuguese fort, the site is located in the heart of the city. It is a well preserved fort and overlooks the Arabian Sea. The fort offers nice views of the ocean along the fortress wall. Tickets are Rs.25/- per person and parking is available. The fort is also known as Kannur Fort and is open to the public between 8 am and 5.30 pm

View from the lighthouse was outstanding. When i reached there, it wasn't crowded at all. I climbed upto the top and seen the inner structure of the lighthouse very carefully. Adding with this, view of the kannur city from the lighthouse was breathtaking 😍

Kottiyoor temple is known as Dakshina Kasi and the Vaishaka Festival at Akkare Kottiyoor is world famous. The main temple is opened throughout the year except for the time when the riverside deity is worshipped in Vaishaka month.

Temple is situated around 45kms from the new Kannur Airport, which is 1 hour 30 minutes drive by car.

Lord Shiva is the main deity.

Located in Parassinikadavu, almost 18 kms. from Kannur city, this park needs more rides to get value for money. The giant wheel was not operational when I visited last week. In-house restaurant, though slightly expensive for the food provided, is okay. The staff was helpful throughout. The rates should be brought down in line with the rides offered.

One can combine a visit to Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple, Snake Park and Vismaya in one go.

It's a cool place to hang out with family. Very reasonably priced and with adequate play zones and recreational facilities. Food stalls and boating in the beautiful river makes it a memorable outing. Would love to go back.
