The experience was awesome! We saw dolphins and whales on the way to the snorkeling spots. We saw a lot of different fish. The crew was great!

Get up and go early it’s worth it. The crew is amazing and take care of everything and everyone. They watch over you while in the most beautiful water you will ever snorkel in. If you’re a novice not to worry. This the company you want to go with. Smaller boat means less people and more fish and crew that cares about you having the best experience. They know where to go and gave suggestions as to where to swim. As an added bonus we saw whales and dolphins while we were returning. The captain stopped the boat and allowed us the time to watch and see these incredible creatures. Thank you we will be back and I would have no problem going on any excursion they offer.

I booked 2 tours in one day - one for snorkeling and the night time Mana Ray tour. The crews that we had on both tours were EXCELLENT!!! There was a discount for booking the second tour as a repeat customer.

I choose to rent the go pro for snorkeling and I’m glad I did!

The whale watching we experienced after we left Captain Hook was such a bonus!!!

The night we arrived in Kona we met another tourist who raved about doing this and wished she had time to do it twice! I can see why!

Went on the Beat the Crowd snorkeling trip. It was AWESOME! Captain Rick and Devonte were the best! Knowledgeable, helpful, professional, and HILARIOUS! The boat (called Revenge) was amazing. We had great snorkeling, saw several whales, dolphins, and even an eagle ray when pulling into the dock! High speed, invigorating, and a great time! Gotta go here if you plan hitting the water!

All I can say is wow! Jacob and crew took us out and after 90 minutes of cruising and seeing only distant water spouts, we hit the jackpot. The crew perfectly positioned us to have an extended period of close up viewing. We got 40 minutes of footage showing the whale above and below water. Just gorgeous and the crew was so friendly and helpful. We will be doing this again!

This trip was awesome! Captain Jack and First Mate Chelsea were amazing guides and free divers. We went to 2 spots that were basically had to ourselves - no crowds like the other boats. We saw dolphins right out of the harbor, tons of reef fish, an eagle ray, some eels, and tako! Very cool! Highly recommend this trip and this company!!

We highly recommend Ehu & Kai Adventures. We booked the Historical Hawaiian Adventure and couldn't have asked for a better guide. Peter was friendly and knowledgable. He made sure we were relaxed, safe and enjoying our snorkeling experience.

    Aloha,
I once again took a friend on the wonderful "Hula Kai' snorkel adventure. As always, the experience is one of those "once in a lifetime's". For over 50 years I have been grateful and enjoyed my snorkelling adventures on the Fairwinds and then Hula Kai.
This has always been for family and visiting friends the very best snorkelling experience on the Big Island. I had written a review in January regarding the food now served as family members missed the burgers and fresh fish. Now with deeper understanding we so appreciate the dedication the Fairwind owners have to preserving the environment.... sustainable agriculture...using local ingredients, fueling the boats only with biodiesel fuel.. With the compassion shown for over the years to those taking their snorkel adventures, the owners of the Fairwinds, Hula Kai realising the footprint too often harmfully placed on our precious Hawaiian Islands.. are also dedicated with compassion to protecting the the Hawaiian Islands, the environment ...utilizing local products and creating tasty food grown on the islands promoting this mission. I applaud them for their dedication. Thank you... The "BEST" snorkel experience while on the Big Island.

All day tour in a clean comfortable van. Small group of 11 friendly people. Guide Katie was amazing. Knows all the plant life birds and animals as well as the history of the Big Island and the geography. In addition to the provided meals bought the group donuts cookies and candy throughout the day. Went above and beyond to insure we saw all the advertised stops and some extras as well. Highly recommend this company and Katie.

Our trip began in Kona the first week of March 2020. The road on the Soth Island is very good with a few areas that have rough tar but no problem. Depending on your final destination or the number of places you want to see or stop for photographs, will consume a day, if you return to your beginning point. The scenery is great of course, with many pull offs to take pictures. There are various beaches to stop at which are very nice. But, be aware that the beach might be sandy but the swimming area can be very rough and rocky. If going to the volcanic crater, call ahead or check web sites because portions of it were closed because of toxic gases. A GREAT stop is in Punalu'u, where the southern most bakery in the U.S. sets waiting for you to indulge in wonderful pasteries of various taste and texture.

It was an enjoyable trip, we saw a shark! Kay provided pineapple and soda for us after snorkeling. Definitely will come back for my next trip to Hawaii.

My group of five long time Kamaainas met Nicole at the harbor and that’s when the fun started! We were on a luxury skiff which suited our group perfectly. We headed out of Honokahau Harbor on a glorious sunny day. Ocean breezes and the bluest waters greeted us as we headed out for our whale watch. And watch whales we did! Nicole and our sea sage Captain knew just where to go. Soon we were yelling, “Thar she blows!” After a short while, we lost count of how many breaches, tail slaps and flashing fins we saw. Our three hour cruise went by so quickly. Our time aboard was enhanced by having a whale expert with us. Nicole Larson gave us so much information on whales and other pelagic animals and was able to answer all our questions. I highly recommend Hawaii Island Ocean Encounters if you want a private, personalized
    cruise on your own terms.
