Vestrahorn is a beautiful place indeed, but there are many other equally beautiful places in Iceland where you don't have to pay so much for it. 900ISK/person, it would be a more fair solution if you only had to pay per car, like in other places. The viking village was a disappointment. Much more could be made out of it with a little attention. And it would be better if we could go into the houses.

Part of our tour, we drove and could see this majestic mountain in eastern Iceland. Its pyramid shape is believed to be 8 million years old. Experienced hikers can hike 1069 meters high, however there is no marked trail, you have to follow the road that lies along the Bulandsa river.

Our tour group spent about 1 1/2 - 2 hours walking on the VAlnajokull glacier. I'm 80 years and decided after a 1/2 mile walk over rough terrain carrying my pick-ax/helmet and ice cleats that I would forgo the "ice walk". My13 year-old grandsons enjoyed the experience...about 5 adults in their fifties/mid-sixties completed teh walk....everyone was exhausted so be in excellent condition. One caveat...Iceland doesn't restrict adventuresome experiences and doesn't have a gov't agency certifying a business adventure...proceed at your own risk..

Fantastic hike with a wonderful reward at the top. You walk on a dirt road to the top (some people with 4WD jeeps could drive there but that’s cheating!). The walk had purple flowers at the beginning on either side of the road which was just gorgeous. At the top you can walk as far as you can go (VERY windy) for fantastic views. Well worth this hike! One of my favorites in Iceland.
