A must-do experience! My husband and I recently celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary with the luxury horseback trip up the Pacaya volcano, where we renewed our vows on the unique moonscape and were treated to incredible views and delicious homemade pizza. As experienced riders, we are always a little skeptical about what kind of horses we're going to wind up with on tours like this; we were delighted that Niki's commitment to the animals meant our mounts were strong and healthy, and the tack was super comfortable. We didn't need any help with our horses, but the cowboys were awesome, so even if you've never ridden before they will take great care of you. Many, many thanks to Niki, Manuel, Marvin and the rest of our crew who made our anniversary (which happened to be our last day in Guatemala) so special. It's even better knowing that your money is going towards supporting local families and their horses, as well as rescue horses and kids who need help.

Thank you for this wonderful experience! We just called on the same day and were lucky to be able to do a 2h ride (400QTZ per person) through the wonderful fields and forests surrounding Antigua. Our local guide had lots of experience and adapted our tour to our level of knowledge, nonetheless the horses were all very well-behaved and there were no troubles at all.
This will be the perfect experience for you if you like outdoor adventures and have a free afternoon in Antigua!

I loved every second I spent at La Ronda! The air, the peace and joy I felt! The horses are so beautiful and are so well taken care of. We had lunch at their restaurant, La Azotea and the food was delicious! I highly highly recommend you visit! I will be back for sure!! One of my favorite places in La Antigua, Guatemala, 100%

This tour was excellent! The cost was $25 USD/ person and the tour lasted about 90 minutes. We started off by jumping in an ATV and taking a short ride out to the plantation to start with the baby coffee trees, which live in an outdoor nursery for about a year and half before being planted in the main plantation. Then we got back in the ATV and took another short ride out to the main plantation, where we got to see real coffee bean trees. Herberto, our guide, explained how you know when the cherries are ripe and how to pick them, and we got to pick a ripe one and try it. The honey-tasting fleshy part of the fruit was delicious!

Our guide was honest about the labor that is used to pick the main harvest of beans, which happens in December to February. He went through how much the harvesters are paid and what their work day looks like.

Then we rode back to the main part of the plantation and observed the washing and drying process, which was actually happening while we were there. It was amazing to see how they dried the green coffee beans on the red clay tiles in the Guatemalan sun. We then saw how they remove the husks and roast some of the beans (those destined for export get shipped in their natural green state). Finally, we got to try some of the coffee either as an espresso or Americano.

TIP: If you like the coffee, buy it here (about $7 USD/bag), which is significantly less expensive than if you buy coffee at the market or other stores in town.

As someone who likes coffee, this tour gave me a new understanding and appreciation of all the work that goes into the beans I grind each morning at my house.

I booked a spectacular tour up the Acatenango volcano. I received accurate information about details of the trip. The organisation , Los Lobos, that provided the guides, transport and amenities at base were experienced, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
Ash Travel's Anahi arranged my taxi back to the airport. Excellent communication about the pick-up from the hotel. On time; it couldn't have gone more smoothly.
