What travelers are saying
- Liz AWatford, UK80 contributionsWe were staying quite close by in St Remy and popped along on a very hot afternoon. The gardens are beautifully planted and we also enjoyed the placards of Van Gough works and their stories that were scattered about. Inside the buildings it was relatively cool and the lavender field at the back was lovely.Written July 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Collie49Merimbula, Australia19 contributionsThis is a very interesting walk from the centre of St Remy leading to St Paul's Monastry (a beautiful eleventh century monastery converted into a psychiatric clinic) where Van Gogh spent almost a year near the end of his life. He completed over 150 drawings and 143 paintings of his surroundings over all four seasons of the year.
The walk has reproductions of many paintings along with letters he wrote to his brother at the time, many discussing the painting shown. Although not necessarily in the same position as Van Gogh painted the picture you do get a feel of walking and seeing what he did.Written October 31, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The stonework is still in good condition but the seem somehow forgotten tucked between the road and the car park. Nice spot for a picnic though.Written August 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- A PLondon, UK22 contributionsVery nice small museum housed in a beautiful Renaissance building safer by huge plane trees in the place Favier - carefully curated yet diverse range of displays including agriculture, artists, antiquity, local Provençal culture and artefacts from the surrounding area. Nice calm escape from the busy crowds in summer.Written August 29, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vic HManila, Philippines409 contributionsThis was said to be the birth place of the famous prophet Nostradamus. It has a plaque on the wall, but the place is said to be used now as a bed and breakfast place.
