What travelers are saying
- Joan C20 contributionsWonderful art at the Art Lab! Drop in asap and look around. You don't have to be rich to value and enjoy great art. Look at Michael Fuller 's seascapes, at Krista Well's many dog portraits ( I met a beautiful, well behaved dog at the gallery today), Jill Langford's beautiful, wildly imaginative paintings and botanical prints, and enjoy Krista Levy Olden's fabric art. I met the artist in residence for this month, Diane Liefheit and saw her great pastels. Welcome to Parrsboro Diane.
We are so fortunate to have artists of this quality living, working and exhibiting here in Parrsboro Mainstreet .
Famous artists Tom Forrestall and William Forestall have a joint exhibit on in the gallery now. Don't miss it!Written July 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I went to Halifax and was looking for something fun and interesting to do and this ticked all the boxes. Plus, you leave with a hook that you made yourself! I was concerned about doing this on my own ( he normally has 2-4 people in a workshop), but I was glad to get the one-on-one experience. I learned so much, asked a lot of questions, and even met the squirrel. Hour 1 was going through the different tools and items in the shop and seeing Sean make a hook himself, going over each step.
Hour 2-3 was trying to make a hook by myself. Sean is so patient, offering help and suggestions while being lighthearted which helped kept me calm and not frustrated. He even took pictures with my camera so I’d have some to send home. Steps 1 and 2 take the longest, but after that, the steps to put the finial on, the twist, and the backplate were so fun and rewarding. I couldn’t wait to show off my handmade hook when I got home! Sean is the most encouraging instructor and I am very fortunate to have found his workshop. Thus is a must-do activity,Written February 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michel CCheticamp, Canada168 contributionsHad a 4 hour intro on how to be a blacksmith. Grant was very welcoming, patient and guided me safely through the basics of blacksmithing. Gives a great appreciation of the skill and craftsmanship involved in this trade. Grant made one hook then I made three more. Great way to learn the basics. Then we made a spoon!!! Grant had a great balance of guiding me and also letting me find my way with the forge, hammer and anvil. Certainly recommend this activity for locals and tourists alike.Written August 20, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yvonne G5 contributionsI took the week-long introduction to weaving course with Lesley and rented studio space for another two weeks. Lesley is an extremely experienced and patient teacher and a pleasure to learn from. She listens to what you want to do and helps you figure out how to get there, taking into account your individual abilities and preferences. Lesley has created a warm and supportive community of weavers in a gorgeous space with tea and biscuits every afternoon. Lesley is someone you want to spend time with and the large, airy studio with its variety of looms is just the place in which you will want to spend time. Getting to knowing Lesley and spending time in her studio have added a whole new dimension to life on the South Shore.Written March 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Emily RHalifax, Canada77 contributionsI can’t recommend the Kitchen Door highly enough.
I did the Thai Flavours workshop with a friend. Chef Andrew is very knowledgeable. He is entertaining and has a wealth of experience.
The workshop was easy and fun. Chef demonstrated each delicious Thai dish and then we made our own.
We ate our yummy creations in the Kitchen Door dining room at a long farmhouse table with plenty of good wine to accompany it.
This is a fun way to learn new skills and I can’t wait to do another workshop!

All Sensei are experienced and knowledgeable. A big plus is that the club members themselves at all levels aren't trying to kill or beat the living daylights out of each other. Mutual respect and well-being is paramount to the club's ethos which is very refreshing in the MMA saturated world of martial arts.Written January 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim dHalifax, Canada1,056 contributionsAfter several visits to watch my 6 year old grandson progress through his journey in Tae Kwon Do, I was there to watch his exam to receive his Yellow Belt. The age range for his exam was quite large - 6 year old to adult. I was throughly impressed with the Master (also the owner) doing the examination. HIs calm and constructive manner which he did the exam was truly impressive. Positive feedback but also very specific recommendations for improvement of the deficiencies. He certainly allowed for the differences in a persons physical development. This is a man who knows what he is doing and has the results to back him up. Gold medals at world competitions.Written April 26, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
