The reviews universally say that Gros Piton is streneous. We are a reasonably fit couple aged 64 & 72. It is a bit of a scramble; but our benchmark of 1,000 ft per hour was pretty accurate. 2 1/4 hours to go from 600 ft to 2,620 ft, and the same time to descend. The ascent started at 09:15 a.m. and happened in shade, which was great. The descent was more sunny, hence more hot.
The view along the way and from the top were very nice.

Worth the entry- nice HIKE up to the Fort & Signal. Nice little snack shack to grab food & drinks. You could plan a great picnic & beach day. The view from the top is beautiful. Be warned - stray hungry kittens- the island need to have a spay|neuter program to reduce the animal population- if you are animal sensitive- it can make you sad:/

These are quite small, so don't expect too much!
We went with a guide/tour and went straight in as they had sorted the tickets. It is also useful to have someone with you, as they can "guard" your belongings and take pictures for you!
Go with your swimsuit underneath, so you can just strip off top clothes and get in. Take towels too. And the mud can stain - so make sure you have dark swimming gear.
There are 4 baths - not that big and they say to spend about 10 minutes in to warm up. Then you cover yourself in the light grey mud. Then you get the dark mud and paint a pattern - or get one of the guides to do it - they are much better at it!
You let this dry off (and have lots of pictures!) and then get back in to rinse it off. It doesn't come off fully - it will be ingrained in your skin for days!!!
There are showers, but these are more of a tap to rinse off.
We wrapped our towels around us, popped flip flops back on and the guide said to get back in the car like that. We then went to the waterfalls nearby and you rinse off here and there are cubicles to put your clothes back on.

It can be a bit of a drive to get here, but is a fun thing to do. We were probably only there around 40 minutes, so it's good to do it with other things.

    This is something to experience..
Basically the locals set up alcohol stalls and BBQ along the streets and there is VERY loud music, which everyone dances to in the street. It's a great experience, but busy and loud.

We got a taxi from our hotel and the driver showed us around and recommended some places to eat, and also gave us a contact point and meeting place for the return. Recommend getting there about 7.30 and it starts to get busy - and the tourists should be out by 10.30-11pm.

Give it a try and go with the flow...

Beautiful lush gardens. Very clean with signs along the walking tour to inform you of the plants The falls are not far and it’s an easy walk
Took us about 90 minutes to do a self tour. Go early to avoid the buses and crowds.

This beach was really quiet and relaxing. The jungle bar had great burgers and the staff were super friendly. To get there you drive to the Jade mountain resort (a very uneven and steep road) and then walk from the Anse Chastanet beach across to Anse Mamin

We had the Grand Eden Estate tour this morning with Sylvanus. We had such a lovely time I had a big smile on my face. My favourite activity to be walking in beautiful surroundings immersed in nature with someone so fun and knowledgable. Sylvanus showed us all kinds of birds and flora & fauna on our hike. We climbed the steps up to the viewpoints and the air was so fresh. He told us about the medicinal properties of some of the plants and was great company. He clearly loves to share his love of the birds and his enthusiasm is infectious. We tasted fresh coconut water and jelly, roasted cashews and sorrel juice as well as the antique spiced rum which was delicious.
We drove our 4x4 rental to get there using Mapsme and it was easy to find. The road is bumpy in parts but it was well worth it to get there. So nice to have a private tour instead of being in a large group. Tout bagay bon Sylvo! And thank you so much 😃

Absolutely gorgeous, only concern was the small drop off as you enter water and quite difficult to get out. However, that might just be where we were at the Starfish resort.

    A beautiful place to visit!!
You can drive or walk (steep hill but doable!) to the top. There are food and souvenir vendors. And a perfect spot to see the whole bay.
Some great places to eat and drink in the bay. The bartenders at Hurricane Hole were great!
Fantastic place to watch the sunset and have a cocktail! (take the ferry across to Doolittles)
You can rent a kayak and paddle around the bay or around the corner to a beautiful beach.

My husband and I got to do this. It was actually booked through the hotel that we were staying at, Stonefield. And we had a private guide to take us on a walk-through it. It was really nice and if you like watching birds, this is definitely one to do. There’s so many different birds and sounds.

Fun for a small hike and getting your body filled with mud of all colors and then washing off in a hot spring. Great thing to do on a cloudy or rainy day..
A tip you will pay a lot less if you have your own car. It's an easy drive from soufiere and a fun one.

I loved this beach! We were not guests as the hotel, but we came to this beach twice. We walked from Anse Chastanet to Anse Mamin, which took under 10 minutes. Anse Mamin is so quiet. The beach & water are absolutely beautiful. This was one of my fav beaches ever. The hotel security were kind & welcoming each day we arrived. We also patroned the restaurants at both ends of the beach. Both were delicious. We also bought beer and asked for an ice bucket which was really nice to have in our quiet spot. We opted NOT to visit Sugar beach after enjoying this beach so much. We did not rent beach chairs, but we could have. Highly recommend enjoying this beach.
