Great trails
sie 2020 • Pary
Great trails, we started at red pine loop, wonderful views of the gorge, trail easy to moderate, easy to follow, good parking. Lots of mushrooms, go for it .
Then did shorter wabashkiki trail, said use at own risk but easily done, not as good view wise but ok.

Great park and Lodges
wrz 2019 • Biznesowy
Went here for school and stayed at the lodges, they were spacious and the beds very comfortable. The park had a nice river flowing through it which you can lazy around and ride a tube down. The cafe made us food while we were there and it was absolutely terrible. Would not recommend food to anyone! Overall if I was camping or lodging here and making my own food I would recommend this park.

Surprisingly Quiet
sie 2019
Spent two nights here in the middle of August. Lots of campsites to choose from so we didn't bother reserving. Took a site close to the water that was cited to have little privacy; to the contrary, it was not close to other sites and, despite having roads on three sides, we found traffic to be minimal and pedestrians quiet and few. On the second night a neighbour came to warn us that a crowd of young people had arrived and to prepare for a noisy night. Not. Everyone was considerate and quiet.
Only downside was the damp firewood sold at the store. Just birch and, with a bag of kindling, came to nearly $17. Store has limited stock, mainly ice, beverages, icecream and candy.
Wished we had been prepared for the 'lazy river'. About 12" deep, it looked very easy but be prepared to tandem vehicles or arrange for a pick up.
Coordinated our trip to coincide with the 'Voyageur Experience', an educational reenactment on the beach but due to drizzly weather, it was moved indoors. Not quite the same experience, so we skipped it. Disappointed.
A great little park that has not been overly used. Best for canoeing but there are hiking trails, too. Convenient to the Eau Claire Gorge, about 10 minutes away.

Wonderful Provincial Park for Camping
sie 2019
Right time & Right place to end our Summer Vacation.
We enjoyed 3 nights camping with super beautiful weather, No rain & few bugs or mosquitoes, clear blue sky & plenty stars at night from August 18 till 21/2019.
The campsite was #48 at Babawasse.
The comfort zone was pretty clean and friendly staff at the visitor centre.

This park also provided many good programs, at least one program per day.

We loved the canoe tour for 1.5 hours and we were allowed to stop & play at the little waterfalls. As well, the Night navigator program was good.

Awesome water tubing along the Mattawa river. Swimming at the Moore Lake made us feel fresh and relax.

We recommend this campground to all campers.

Great camping destination with crystal clear water and superbe hiking trails.
sie 2019
My family and I just got back from a 4 day camping trip at Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park. First thing we noticed is the sites are quite spacious. We are a family of 4 and always have a large tent and gazebo setup. We had room for these, as well as a large area to setup a tarp near the fire to hide from the rain.

We went on two hikes. First one was the red Trail. It is around 3 Kms and took us a little under 2 hours to complete. We had 4 kids with us and one elderly person. The trail is great for hiking. The path is covered in bowling ball sized rocks and large roots. There is a hill climb and descent involved. Nothing too crazy. Definitely not suitable for someone with a stroller.

The second trail we did was near the day use beach. It is a short 1Km trail trough the forest with some bridges overlooking the wetlands.

The beaches are excellent. Sandy and quite shallow until you get near the buoys. Excellent for small children. The park offers Kayak, Canoe and stand up paddle board rentals. The rentals are already locked up at key areas around the park so you don't have to load and unload them on your vehicle.

We had time to do some fishing while we were there. We didn't manage to land any brook trout, however we did catch and release quite a few bass.

Overall this is a great park. One thing to note would be if you choose to rent a site with hydro. Be sure to bring an extension cord. We didn't bring one, so we couldn't use the hydro.

Don't forget to stop by the store and visitors center.

Beautiful Park, Great Camping and Awesome Voyageur Canoe Tour
lip 2019
We have been camping every summer but first time to Samuel. We loved the pristine lake a few steps away from camp site and the water was perfect for swimming. Mattawa river is beautiful and the view where it meets Ottawa river was amazing. The best part was the Voyageur Canoe tour with Matt and Lauren. It was fun and informative. The waterfall they took us to see was breathtaking. The camp staff was outstandingly helpful and friendly. They kept the facilities in wonderful conditions. The only regrets were smaller, rockier and wetter camp site comparing with other places we went, and not very good biking trails.

horrible road in, badly designed sites
cze 2019 • Pary
We stayed here for one night on our way through northern Ontario. We had just spent 5 weeks camping in our class B RV through many states and were shocked by the condition of this campground. The road in was in horrible condition and the campsites left much to be desired. The hook ups were so far away from the sites we would have needed an extension cord to connect (which they rent here but the store was closed for a few days). The sites were badly maintained and the dump station had seen better days. The mosquitoes were horrible but I can't blame the campground for that. Definitely no return trip in our future.

Great camping
lip 2019 • Dla rodziny
This was our first time to Samuel, our friends have been coming for 10 years and we decided to take the hike and join them and it was wonderful.

The sites are very spacious, the dock is wonderful for fishing off, and you can go canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding on the small lake.

Bring your life jacket and a tube so you can go down the rapids which is super fun.

Bathrooms are super clean, showers water mix between warm and hot.

Mosquitos were bad so bring your bug spray. Aside from that I will definitely be returning in the future.

Pleasant stay, no bugs!
wrz 2018 • Pary
This was our first time camping here.

We stayed at campsite #171. It was very close to the water, had lots of shade and a nice breeze. I would definitely stay at this site again. The fire pit at this site needs to be dug out and pulled out of the ground but other than that, this site was fairly large and had a decent amount of privacy. It was right next to the washrooms, which was handy.

The beach and boat launch was only a minute walk away. Dogs are not allowed at the beach but they are allowed at the boat launch. The water was shallow enough where you could walk out with the dog.

One thing I found lacking was garbage cans. You’d think there would be garbage cans near the washrooms, I mean that would be the logical spot. The only place we saw garbage cans was out near the showers. It’s a bit inconvenient. The washrooms had soap and water but nothing to dry your hands on.

The campgrounds were clean and you could buy a bag of wood for $8.

Overall, we had a nice visit and will be back.
