One of the earliest churches to be constructed in the Malabar region
kwi 2019 • Pary
St. John's Anglican Church, is believed to be about 152 years old and according to some others, the church must have been here even as early as 1830. The graveyard, adjacent to it probably existed even before that, as some tomb-stone markings indicate the usage as early as 1768. The church is just behind the Thalassery Fort, on the sea coast and is considered to be one of the first churches to be constructed in the Malabar region. The philanthropist, Edward Brennan, who died in 1859, bequeathed all his savings towards the welfare of this region, including funds to establish the educational institution and the church. The mortal remains of Brennan as well as many other officials of the East India Company are buried in the cemetery attached to the church. The church is a fine specimen of the Gothic revival style of the 1830's.

Built during the hey days of the British Raj, the place has an old-time feel to it. Not a big church, but well maintained.

A superb church located near the baby beach in thalassery. This Church was built during the British rule. You can also see the tomb of the builder of this Church in the cemetery. Small beautiful Church, well maintained.

an unassuming place
cze 2016 • Dla rodziny
the church situated on the beach and close to the cemetery looks univiting but for its unique architectural structure. Just looks like something made by children during their play. But once you enter it you will be awestruck realising the historical significance of the structure. the cemetery close to it has a number of tombstones that throw light into the colonial past of the country. An oft neglected monument the church is.

A church built during 19th century which reminds us of the Colonial Rule
lis 2015
St. John's Anglican Church built during 19th century by Sir. Edward Brennan, a heritage building is now a maintained by the tourism department. Sir Edward Brennan and several officials of the British east India company rest in the cemetery adjacent to the church. Sir Edward who reached Thalassery after a ship wreck took initiative to construct the church before the construction was completed he passed away. The church is now a tourist attraction and is well maintained. The tranquil atmosphere and the colonial style construction are really worth mentioning.

Historic church, worth a visit

Similar to the French Catholic church, this church is also located within the premises of Thalassery fort near the sea. It was built in 1869 after the British captured the fort from the French. It is a small white structure which has been restored recently.
