Very Impressive Range of Hand Made Furniture, Carvings & Ornaments. Perfect Place for Artisans to Source Materials.

Red Gum & Iron is one of those places that provides an opportunity to experience something that is still quite a distinctive way in which to view retail presently and in doing so opens up a positive way for us as a community to get behind promoting local resources and independent family businesses, especially 'post-Covid'.

A great example that highlights how just about anything can be re-used, recycled, repurposed and upcycled if we put our mind to it. Looking around at the vast selection of bits and bobs impressed upon me to reconsider the types of goods and equipment which would have traditionally been thrown on the scrap heap and sent off to landfill. Here you can see their potential for a second life.

The owner was friendly & down to Earth patiently answering all of my questions about the many items on display and whether the company sources their materials in a responsible & sustainable manner, ensuring consideration is given to protecting the safety & homes of native Flora and Fauna.

I was thrilled to be able to bring home some wooden off cuts that I look forward to turning into a sculpture & enjoyed being able to browse at my leisure, gleaning many an inspiration and idea for my own projects.

For those more interested in buying rather than making you will find that with creations such as Benches forged out of old Spanners, Shelving furnished from old packaging crates and the wide variety of iron Flowers, Animals & Ornaments there is ample opportunity to pick up that something special with which to decorate your home or venue.

Particularly stunning is the array of Wood and Coloured Glass Carvings that I recommend you keep an eye out for. You may view some examples in the photographs that accompany this review, although the pictures in no way do these beauties justice.

With easy access, FREE entry and sitting just on twenty [20] kms from Geelong your visit to "Red Gum & Iron" is off to a good start. Whether a perfect idea for a day trip or as a planned pit stop on your way to the Great Ocean Road, ensure to leave ample time to browse as there is a lot more here than initially meets the eye.

Apparently lay-by is available so you don't have to miss out on your favourite piece. Just have a word to the owner who seems very happy to oblige. So if you want to help support a small Business with its' focus on helping reduce waste whilst producing top quality, hand made, 'home grown' items with a distinctive local characteristic this is the place to start.

You may even well find that extra special gift for your loved one that "already has everything and if they don't already have it, then why not see if the owner can't make it for you!
