Beautiful wall paintings
lip 2019 • Znajomi
This is a very nice castle, with wonderful wall paintings depicted daily life. Our guide was great; and covered lots of material in one hour. The tour was in Italian, but she managed to communicate the important points to me. At the end of the tour was a mirrored box which was based on a Leonardo da Vince concept, that if you entered it you saw yourself to infinity. It was an interesting je place to take a selfie.

Thrilling collection of beautifully decorated rooms with amazing frescoes
maj 2019 • Pary
From the outside this looks quite interesting but when you enter with the necessary guide you immediately see the huge importance of this great castle, with extraordinary 15C frescoes depicting scenes of everyday life, then lovely decorations in the chapel and hall of judgement. If you like us are a fan of 15C art and religious art, or you just like to see how life was lived all those years ago, this is an essential visit. Even the graffiti disfiguring walls or some of the frescoes are ancient and historically fascinating. The great advantage of this castle is that it was bought and saved for posterity soon after the last owner in a long line died and so it contains many rare and beautiful frescoes and even some furniture from history, and in fine condition. Highly recommended, just a pity that this seems little known outside Italy and there are no photographic guides available in French or English to stimulate foreign tourism. Wonderful.

Great Italian guided tour
lip 2018 • Pary
The castle is small and very well preserved, with lovely frescoes and period furniture. The guide provided an excellent tour of the castle, provided that you understand Italian. Not sure if yours are available in other languages. It appears that you need to join a tour and cannot wander unsupervised through the castle. Certainly worth visiting if you are in the area.

Hidden treasure
kwi 2018 • Pary
The castle of Issogne seen from the outside is the classic case in which you don't have to trust what you are looking at. It's not a fortress but a small palace, with an entrance on a loving garden that will lead you to the ticket office. Once you enter the castle you'll see what really is: a fantastic hidden place. Practically everything is original, and if it's not original, it's a copy produced within the end of 1800. Must see: the writes that completly cover the internal walls are not made by vandals, but from the guests that used to visit the castle. The ancient owners asked to visitors to use their walls as guest book. More than 2000 writes were catalogued. In the exposition you'll find also an original piece of hunting horn. It has been said that only 3 in the world are still conserved in such a state. The rooms, the architectures, the pictures... you'll love everything.

Fascinating small castle
lut 2018 • Dla rodziny
Took a day off the piste during our skitrip to Champoluc and visited this small but fascinating castle. Interesting decor and histories in the rooms inside. You need to join the tour that starts every 30 mins. Tickets cost 5€ (2€ for kids). The friendly guide gave brief English summaries although the tour was officially only in Italian. Most rooms have a poster with English text, too.

Worth a visit if you're in the area
sie 2017
We were recently passing by Issogne and having read the reviews on Trip Advisor decided to stop and pay a visit And we were not disappointed. Although not large, the Castello has many features - in particular its frescos - that make it rather special.

Interested visitors should note that one can only see the Castello as part of a guided tour (lasting some 40 minutes) and that inevitably the tour will be conducted in Italian. That said, we were given a very good written guide so that we could keep up with the key points made during the tour.

Bottom line - I'm not sure that it is worth going significantly out of one's way to visit the Castello but if you're within striking distance it makes for a very pleasant and interesting break.

Lovely decorated castle, definitely worth a visit. Only guided visits are allowed and guide speaks Italian. Guide did give abstract in English and the frescoes and inventory of the castle are beautiful.

Loved it! It was cold, guide was taking the tour in Italian language, but he pointed out few things in English special for us, which was very nice. Frescoes were wonderful and well preserved. Couldn't believe they so old! enjoyed every minute of 1hour tour!

Wonderful Frescoes
lip 2016 • Pary
Castello di Issogne is definitely worth to visit since this is one of the castles in Aosta Valley that is well preserved. First of all we wanted to see the frescoes in the courtyard of the castle because they are very different from paintings we have seen in other places. They devote to the everyday life of people in the 15th century - the market, cheese making, pork butchery, guard dinner, etc. But the other frescoes inside the structures are also very good. The buildings are very good decorated and furnished with all attributes of that time. The tour is in Italian, so you have to prepare before coming there. A lot of excellent paintings in the rooms to enjoy. A very good introduction to have a flavour of the people' life at that time.
Parking was easy, so the access to the castle.

Beautiful frescos
lip 2016 • Pary
We were told that this is the most beautiful castle in the Aosta Valley and we fully agree.

It is a beautiful castle and the guided tour costs only 5 euro. The tour may be in Italian, but you will get what is explained.

The castle houses many beautiful frescos. Some have century old graffiti, but nowodays they are very strict and do not allow any such thing.
