- Joanie HDagenham, United Kingdom567 contributionsExcellent for children and familiesI visited this park whilst visiting a friend in Maldon who drove here. There was plenty of parking, there is a small Sandy beach there, and you can rent one of the small beach huts there, which is great if you want a place to rest. There were plenty of places to get something to eat and drink. We did Joyce’s there so I don’t know what the prices are like. They had a water spray park there which was full of kids enjoying themselves. There is a skate park there, where there were adults snd kids having a good time. It’s lovely to walk around and along the water, there are some lovely views as you walk along. If you want something good to do with the family then I would recommend this place.Visited August 2023Traveled with friendsWritten August 4, 2023

- On_my_travels112Cambridge, United Kingdom46 contributionsGreat place for meeting friendsMaldon is a great spot to meet friends with a selection of things to do. We've enjoyed the skate park, Zoo, crazy golf, food outlets & on a previous visit the splash park. The only thing I would suggest is keeping a check on the toilets as none had any hand wash available.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 23, 2023

Parked in a side road as wasn't sure how long we'd be to pay for car park. Was the right decision as we were there for hours & would have been costly. Lovely riverside walk, lake with ducks etc. Brilliant Petting Zoo with wonderfully friendly animals & staff. Jade was very good at giving information on the animals and their stories. We were able to touch, stroke & handle some of the animals. Cafe, pubs, boat rides, sand & water play & crazy golf. Fantastic place to visit.

Whilst Maldon promenade park is great and lovely for children, I have marked down as the Petting Zoo was really disappointing. It’s scruffy and very uneven underfoot. The cages for the birds are very small, two ducks had a tiny space with a bowl of very dirty water. Some of the animals do have enough room, but overall my grandsons were quite upset by it all and felt very sorry for the birds and animals. Would definitely not go again.
The cafes are great at Maldon prom and it’s a very nice walk along the river, with a field the other end for games etc. The bird look-out by the field has unfortunately been vandalised, it had information panels when new.
The boys loved the crazy golf, which is well maintained.

Had a great day at maldon park, noticed signs to the petting zoo after looking around the bank holiday market, we were greeted by the lovely team off zoo keepers as we went around the petting zoo and they made it a fun wholesome experience and even made it fun for the younger children, telling them cool and interesting facts about each animal, the animals had everything they needed, fresh clean beds and fresh food and water, staff were checking these very often. Had a great time and loved how my family were interacted with.
Thanks Craig, James and team

Myself and my family attended Maldon Promenade Petting Zoo and it was thoroughly an enjoyable day.
The staff made every effort to make you feel welcome, involving you with the animals as much as they could, such as showing you how to feed and handle the animals correctly. Also teaching you about the animals in a fun way that was easy for even the youngest of customers to understand such as my neice who will be 3 at the end of the month.
The staff also make sure that the animals are constantly being tended to so that they are comfortable.
All the while making sure that plenty of handsanitiser is to hand and that covid-19 measures are in place and being adhered to.
I will be recommending a visit to my friends and family.
I definitely will be going back.

What a great place to take the kids, I was so pleasantly surprised of how much there is to do. The petting zoo was great with knowledgeable staff who generally care for the animals Welbeing. Such a beautiful place. I would love to see more bins dotted around as I had to pick up several bits of litter left behind by other people.

I visited Maldon prom petting zoo, with my son,my friend and her 2 children. We had an amazing day, the weather was a bit hit and Miss.the staff were amazing , in particular a young lady called Olivia, she ran round got us all umbrellas and as we were under shelter she got several animals out and let all the children hold or stroke them, my friend is petrified of spiders and Olivia was just amazing. So polite My son could not stop speaking about her and Shrek the bearded Dragon. Even though it rained we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the children learned a ton of information. Thank you Olivia and the rest of the team for a great day. We can not wait to come back .

My wife and I spent some time wandering around the Promenade Park and Hythe Quay area of Maldon on a recent visit. We were staying in town for a short birthday break and the walk from Maldon town centre was easy to navigate - we headed there via Church Street, down the hill and past the Jolly Sailor and its twisted chimney, and wandered back to town via the museum in the park and Mill Road (as the slope back uphill is much more gradual than the steeper Church Road route).
The park has plenty to do, both for children or those who just want to stroll and enjoy the coastal views and the pretty Marine Lake. We stopped at a kiosk and enjoyed a hot drink and biscuit, which was a pleasant way to spend 15 minutes or so. The park has special memories for us as we visited it on our first date over 20 years earlier.
Very pretty part of the Essex coast - well worth a visit.

In the age of mask wearing its great to find somewhere that they can be, carefully, disregarded. The open air. This park has everything for everyone. A cold Saturday morning but the football teams were out on the fields. Plenty for every age to do. Skateboard area, climbing frames, swings, slides, crazy golf, petting zoo. Some of the items do cost a few quid but it’s worth it to see the smiles on the kids faces. If you haven’t got the extra cash just wander as there is plenty to do that costs nothing. Stacks of parking areas but that does cost, where doesn’t parking cost? Enjoy the freedom.

First time I have visited Promenade Park and I was not disappointed. We walked along the river, played Pirates Adventure Golf. There is a Petting Zoo for the children. Toilets are well maintained and when I paid a visit to the toilet the lady cleaner was very polite and cleaning the basins with disinfectant which was very good to see bearing in mind COVID rates are now rising again. Me and my partner walked to the Quay hoping to do the 40 minute boat trip but there was no boats there and also nothing showing on the blackboard or leaflets advertising future boat trips. Are they still operating?
Promenade Park is a gem and well worth a visit. When we visited it was not too busy but would imagine at weekends and when the schools break up the Park will be quite popular.

Excellent place to visit very local to us so we go alot.
Lovely water park for the children.
Great play area!
You can even hire beach huts for the day.
In the summer they have other activities going on which is fab, there is a golf course there which is also good some may say it's abit pricey for what it is but the kids love it.
Nice pub and look at the boats loads of grass to sit and picnic on, there are places to eat just your standard things and lovely I've creams.
Over by the sand pit there is another lovely cafe, and some buckets and spades for the sand.
Just a lovely day out and parking isn't expensive either.
Just lovely!

You can visit their website for all details, £2.50 per session = 30 mins but this includes getting area clear for next session so maybe 20/25 actual mins. £12.50 per child per day gives unlimited access

In many areas, but around the lake and on the Promenade they are required to be on the lead. There are signs showing the on-lead areas.
