It is a very small beach, but it has beautiful views from the top of the sand dune. There are beach umbrellas and other water activity rentals. We saw an amazing sunset there! I liked this beach more than Yonaha-Maehama beach, because it had a very intimate feeling and mush less people there. Too bad we didn't try snorkeling there. I bet it would have been even more fun. However we did see these sandy white color fish (all white with little bit of black dots) which were quiet cool. Those fish became a bit creepy later, because they would follow you around, surround you and get really close to you.

You need to take a short walk to reach the beach. Best to be in sandals or slippers since it’s the beach! Bring food to feed the fishes and they will appear. Great view but beware there may be jellyfish.

This beach is tiny and not particularly impressive, but it's where we had the most fun! The rock formatations are beautiful as is the sand dune you have to walk over to get here.

There is a rental shop for beach items but was closed on the day we came here. Most of the time, there were hardly any other people on the beach, so it felt like our own private beach! The sand is coarser here compared to Maehama beach, and the waves are huge as is crashes into the rocks. Not great for swiiming as the sea is rough, but this is where we sat on the sand bed and waited for waves to crash into us and take us to shore!

It was very overcast when we arrived and didn't look like a great beach, but when the sun eventually came out, it was a whole different story - what a beautiful sight!

Really nice beach and scenery surrounding the area. Be aware that the walk back up the hill is pretty long with soft sand so if you have kids be prepare to carry them. Also watch out for shark warnings if your going to swim there.

What a wonderful beach where few people go to. We had the whole place to ourselves. For some reason locals don't really go to the beach on Miyakojima. Check it out.

When planning our trip to Miyakojima, I knew this was going to be someplace we HAD to visit. My father-in-law had a picture of this beach as his computer screen saver and I always thought it was so beautiful.

To get to the beach from the parking lot is a bit of a walk with some steep grades, but well worth it. The day we visited, there were a few other tourists, but they didn't stay long. I actually (accidentally) found a piece of sea glass and I was so excited!! I searched and found 2 more pieces but that was it.

The rock arch is so pretty. The water felt great - even in November. When I put my feet in the water, the tide was pretty strong. I worried I might fall down if I wasn't careful. But it's just a beautiful, scenic spot...period.

When I got home, I noticed my sea glass wasn't in my suitcase. So either I lost it or it was confiscated at the airport. But thankfully I did take a picture, so I have something to remember.

really nice spot. The walk from the car park may be a problem for some people as it is quite far and you have to climb a large sand dune.
Deck chair and umbrella rental was there.

We went to 3 beaches, and Sunayama was by far our favorite. We stayed there from 13:00 until sunset. We took a taxi, and we walked up a hill and then down a big hill to the beach. Lots of people go to the beach to take pictures and leave, but we enjoyed spending hours there soaking in the sun and the clear water and soft sand. The waves were calm, but be careful where you step as the coral can cut your feet.

Like the title says it does take a bit of effort to get here. There is parking lot with access to bathrooms and showers first. Once you park your car, you follow the path past a person selling drinks and other souvenirs. If it's hot out the walk won't be fun, but trust me, it is worth it. Walk about 5-10 minutes and you will see one of the most gorgeous beaches I've ever seen. If you've ever seen a picture of Okinawa, chances are this is the beach.

You can rent chairs, umbrellas, and other beach items. You can buy beers and other drinks as well. The water is crystal clear. It's not really for snorkeling but you can find a small reef out a ways with a few fish. You will not need water shoes unless you want to step on the coral which I don't recommend.

I took my wife, mom, and daughter. This is a great beach for just hanging out. I can't say enough about how great these place is. Yonaha Maehama beach get the most credit but in my opinion this place is better. You really can't go wrong with any of the beaches in Miyako. If you go to Miyako you absolutely have to go here.
