Disappointing and pricey.
kwi 2021
The gardens are pleasant enough but plant labelling is almost non-existant. Although only the garden was open and not the house entry was still a hefty £12.50 though RHS members are free on Friday.
The cafe was dire: queues out of the door and round the block for soup, cake or hot drinks. Coffee was OK, cake disappointing - small dry slice - for the price. Only one person serving - understand the need to distance but plenty of room for one person to operate the super-slow coffee machine and one to serve cake\take the money. Not nearly enough tables and this was on a weekday.
Shop selling plants was expensive but at least a chance to find out what some of them were.

Very pretty

Beautiful grounds and gardens and if you are a gardening enthusiast this will definitely be the place for you.

The fountain is quite amazing but make sure you don’t stand down wind of it unless you want to bring a change of clothes!

Slightly pricey when due to Covid the abbey is closed to the public. But would attend again when the abbey is able to open.

Dogs allowed on short leads on the grounds too.

Lovely garden but an expensive tea room
paź 2020 • Pary
As RHS members we took advantage of the free on Friday offer. We felt that the standard entry fee of £12.50 was high, but we enjoyed the autumn colour and the 12.00 fountain switch on was amazing. Our tour of the grounds took us about 2 leisurely hours. Unfortunately the tea room seating is all outside and there was drizzle about! The soup and roll at £4.50 was delicious but the cream tea scone was stale and the small slice of cake was over priced. We believe the property is shortly to close but if not (and we note that the owners don’t reply on TA) we suggest taking a picnic.

One for kitchen garden enthusiasts
wrz 2020
This is an enormous garden, and there is also a well stocked shop and plant nursery. Very complex, layered and intensively planted, it takes an enormous amount of work to prepare and maintain this garden for visitors and during the Covid 19 pandemic it must be a very challenging task. Bits of the property are in dire need of repair and refurbishment, but overall you can tell they are doing their best. The sheer scale of the grounds and the building means that not everything is immaculate - but the atmosphere is calm, relaxed and enjoyable. Superb kitchen garden, plenty of pumpkins and lovely greenhouses, which are not accessible but you can peek in. You can have a lovely walk around - it really is a bucolic setting.

Had a nice walk around the gardens with the trees currently displaying autumnal colours. Also couple of ponds with a fountain that shoots high .
Tea room only open for takeaway with tables outside.
Shop is interesting.
Nice visit

Delightful gardens, well worth the entry fee...
paź 2020
If you are an RHS member there are opportunities for free entry. It would not be difficult to spend a half day or more strolling in this garden such is the size (30 acres) and variety of features. Unfortunately the house was not open and the day was wet but this did not spoil our experience.
There is a comprehensive selection of plants for sale, at reasonable prices. In addition there is a small café, which is operating on a "take away" basis - cakes, hot drinks & ices with a soup available at lunchtime.
Overall a great location, how does the owner and a couple of staff keep these gardens so pristine.

Fabulous
wrz 2020 • Pary
Absolutely delighted we visited these stunning gardens on a sunny Saturday in September. Herbaceous beds were full of colourful plants and with the backdrop of the house and fountain (check timings) the image was fabulous.
Lots of areas tucked away - so explore and enjoy!

Lovely grounds, & don't miss the fountain switch-on!
wrz 2020
This is a beautiful venue, with a lovely house & great gardens to wander round. You must time it right to see the 160ft fountain being switched on! We couldn't go in the house as it was during Covid 19 restrictions, but it was well worth the visit anyway.
