Very impressive tribute to the fallen

Very tastefully set out and suitable for the motoring tourist, but the Visitor Centre was a delightful collection of information - far more that expected.

Honorable resting place of American soldiers - well worth a visit
wrz 2019
This is a large and beautiful cemetery, so allow plenty of time. Has visitor center and chapel. Final resting place and memorial to those who gave their lives so that we might live in freedom. Includes graves for unidentified remains, and a Wall of the Missing for soldiers whose remains were never found.

Sobering Thanksgiving
wrz 2019
This place is world class in its honouring and tasteful in its purpose.
The impressive facades and grounds do justice to those who fought, died and survived the horrific conflict that brought them here.
We came away appreciative of a well kept memorial, impressed at the educational display and pleased to see an attempt to right the wrongs of past oversights to honour every soldier.

Impressive cemetery, like the American one in Normandy at Colleville -sur-Mer and other memorial American Cemeteries.
Each one of them designed exactly alike.
14.000 soldiers dead. Incomprehensible.
The place is peaceful and very beautiful. Almost to make you forget the cruelty and ugliness of death, destruction and warfare. There’s no such thing as a glorious death for these young men.
Never make war again.

We happened across this cemetery on our way to Verdun, purely by chance. On turning the corner and seeing the magnificent entrance, we were blown away. Never before have we felt so humbled by the scale, care and respect shown to the fallen as here. We met the man in charge, and he was so helpful and friendly - we cannot praise this place enough. Spent a long time just walking through the grounds - everyone should visit such a place, it certainly puts life into perspective. These brave men should never be forgotten, and all should be honoured in the same way.

Moving final resting place

This is largest cemetery for American service personnel in France and possibly outside of the US. It is a serene, well maintained, and fitting memorial for US soldiers and largely from Meuse Argonne offensive during last month of the Great War. Make the trip if you can.

A serene final resting place for many brave young Americans

I recently finished a book about the Meuse-Argonne offensive, and visiting this cemetery was my small way to pay tribute to the many brave young Americans who lost their lives in this battle in WW1. More than 14,000 American soldiers are buried here. The renovated visitors center has is welcoming and has a display about the cemetery and the battle. There is also a lovely chapel. The grounds are well maintained. A fitting memorial well worth a visit.

This is a beautifully maintained cemetery that honors the Americans that lost their lives in WW1. The chapel area has beautiful stained glass and a nice map of the offensives in the area.

Very Nice WW I Cemetery

Visited during Veterans Day 2018. The Verdun area is noted for tremendous loss of life during intense fighting during World War One. It was a cool rainy day with a slight fog over the pristinely kept grounds. There is a museum on one side and a chapel type structure on the other. You can drive through or park or stroll through the extensive grounds. There are many monuments and other cemeteries throughout the country side in the greater Verdun area. If you are a history buff this place is a must.

Beautifully Maintained & Worth the Drive to Find!

We stumbled upon signs for the American Cemetery while wandering the back roads of the Argonne wood, seeking sights associated with this WWI battlefield. After about 25 miles of many turns on back roads we finally found it. It was a foggy, misty fall day and the entrance was full of color from the fall leaves. The sight is huge and beautifully maintained. It is incredible to see the rows and rows of crosses that line the plots here, many are adorned with both French and American flags. Many of the small villages that we passed on the way here also had memorials to the American troops that died in the area.
