Disappointing
gru 2020
The whole Bruce Peninsula and local residents are turning away tourist as they are being referred to in a very negative way. Parks have put a time limit on how long you are able to visit. Locals want to keep this treasure to themselves and not generate income for the economy.

My server (Jill) was super cool and easy to talk to. The drinks were great, i got wings that were bomb too. Over all, had a great experience (went there after a rough day and it was made better by the great service provided)! Go here if you want to have a great time :)

Stay away
wrz 2020 • Pary
The beauty of this area is killing it. Extreme overuse by often thoughtless people are having a huge negative impact. Moore Street is now completely no parking. There is one small, and I do mean small, parking lot. People unfamiliar with the area show up in flip flops or high heels much to the amusement of the locals. At least one lady in high heels broke her ankle this year on the trail. The side trail has been closed due to misuse. There is no camping or fires here but that does not matter to some. One illegal fire this year required the local fire department to act. A local media outlet has stated that it will take the trail about 6 years to recover. Please stay away.

Gorgeous view
paź 2020 • Pary
We went there and hiked to see the view, which was beautiful! The hike is not easy, because of the rocks and the roots, and it was slippery because of the rain earlier in the day, but it was worth it. There were no big climbs but you have to have good legs to be able to go there.

Lovely views but wear proper hiking shoes/boots!
wrz 2020
Loved it but lots of tree roots/rocks /slippery so proper hiking boots/shoes should be worn for safety. Also no safety railings so if you have young children pls hang on to them tightly. Look out round trip is 2 hours but we did the 20 km loop from Mccurdy parking lot loop using the Ilse Hanel side trail which was basically flat-old logging road. Nice break after all the rocks and tree roots. Moderate hike...not easy. Beautiful high views of the different colors of the water etc. Air is so clean. It's such a shame that people have ruined it with littering! They had to close the Moore Street access point due to this.

***Trail Updates
lip 2020 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
“This is to advise you that the Lion’s Head Moore Street side trail to the main Bruce Trail has been closed.

As the landowners of this portion of the trail, this action was taken after careful deliberation that focussed on two primary issues: the environment and the safety of visitors and residents. Each year the Moore St. side trail has experienced an exponential increase in visitors, resulting in over capacity on the trail and congestion on the street. We are witnessing a significant increase in garbage, increased degradation of the natural areas which are part of the UNESCO Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve and a serious risk of forest fire due to illegal and abandoned campfires.

We believe this action will help protect the environment and mitigate the risk for all involved.

(The Bruce Trail Conservancy continues to offer access to the area via the main trail at McCurdy and at the end of Cemetery Road.)”

Fantastic View and Hike!

Fantastic Lookout and Hike! We travelled north from Collingwood to extra experience this famous landmark. We even took our touring bike onto the trail. Little did we know. We had to secure them on a tree a few hundred meters before the lookout.

Please be aware that the trail to the Lion's Head lookout borders a residential area - you are welcome to come here if you do so respectfully - stay on trails, do not trespass on private property, any items you take in must be taken out - in other words - PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE LITTER BEHIND ON THE TRAILS OR THE ROADSIDE, please use the porta potties located in the Municipal parking lot (don't urinate along the roadside close to people's home), if you smoke, don't do so out on the trail - or if you must, please extinguish your cigarette and bring it out with you - do not drop it in the forest or along the trail. July 14th - smouldering camp fire was found by a hiker which could have spread quite easily but was taken care of by the Lion's Head VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.
