Starting at the hill of a dune with a view on the Dumont Quarter, you can make a nice walk through the charming little "Villas" with french names. It 's a pity that some villas are in a bad shape and need to been restaured. Shame on the habitants, we had to avoid a lot of dirty corners although some posters mentioned a fine 250,00 euro !!!!

This nice location is just next to a busy road. You take about 20 to 25 steep steps and climb the top. Then you will reach a highest point with a nice sitting area. You can stand and watch the beautiful town as well as the quarter. Then you can take another 20-25 steps down to enter the quarter. Then it is a beautiful walk on a narrow street lined with beautiful houses. You will enjoy the walk. Make sure you don’t make noise especially if you have small children with you.

Nothing spectacular to see in this quarter, except numerous charming buildings that are now a preserved site. And rightly so.

Quiet, classified neighbourhood, with few cars, lots of green and amazing buildings. It has some amazing buildings, ranging from cottage style to bateau. My absolute favorite is the bateau style double house on a corner of Dumontlaan.
The neighbourhood only has 1 hotel, Parkhotel, which has a large garden, with terrace, kids playground, loungechairs and overgrown petanque cours. Non-guests can stop by for a beer, snack or Sunday BBQ

It is such a beautifull walk in the old city with architectical magnificent houses. There is a lot of history from WOI, which is explained where necessary. And there is art.

In De Panne you can visit the sea and beach and dunes, but also the Calmeyn-forest, the Nightingale Educational Nature Center, the great natural Westhoek reserve, and in the middle of all that, you will find the "Dumont"-quarter, wich is an architectural area, named after the famous architect Dumont in the early 1920's. Art Deco and Art Nouveau is always in the architectural designs, and the villas are very efficiently build inside. The area has low parking possibilities and unique sense mobility. Use your bikes please ! Around the Dumont area is lokated the "Zeelaan" or boulevard of the sea, with lots of commercial shopping. I live here for almost 28 years.

Nice enough houses, pleasant walk. Not much more to report. Not quite sure why it gets so many 5 star reviews.
