Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras opinie, Nowy Orlean

About
Z udekorowanych podestów w stronę najmłodszych polecą bowiem koraliki, kubki, monety i wypchane zwierzaki. Miejsca w lokalach z najlepszym widokiem na paradę trzeba rezerwować nawet 12 godzin wcześniej!

Unforgettable !
lut 2020
A unbelievable experience for a French couple. Starting the day at 8am, being n the center of the show, smelling the BBQs, watching the dances, the costumes, the smile on everyone, catching the necklaces, dancing in the French Quarter.. So many great moments. You HAVE TO do it at least one time in your life! People from NOLA are the best.

The parades were wonderful. And the crowds for true rific. Everyone was nice. But. The Mardi Gras app was terrible. I wish someone had better advice on the parades.

What a party
lut 2020 • Pary
1000's of people lined the streets to get beads, cups, underwear, and whatever else they were throwing off the floats. So many people having a great time....what a party..

A Bucket List Must Do!
lut 2020
A Bucket List Must Do! We arrived just over a week before Mardi Gras and New Orleans was already buzzing with the build up parades and excitement. Bourbon street gave us a glimpse of what to expect on the big day and it was amazing fun and crazy!! After getting back from a weeks cruise the Sunday before Mardi Gras the city was still buzzing but fairly quiet early on that Sunday morning which gave us a chance to look around at this fantastic city. There are so many sights and sounds to experience and there is no where like it on earth. Lundi Gras was great and takes you up a gear in preparation for the main event on Tuesday. There are parades and marches going on all the time and it would are difficult not to see something somewhere. Then Fat Tuesday came, with a Bang. We were in place on the corner of Poydras and Charles by the Blake. Its a good spot as the parade slows and splits on this corner. The first marches start at around 6.30am and take approx 2 1/2 hours to get to this spot. We were in place at 7am so were right at the front, some had been there from 4.14am. Pointless really, we could have rocked up at that spot at 9am and still been in good position but there is so much to see that we were glad to be there early. Krewe of Zulu and Rex are the highlights and were 1st through around 10.30am. These guys had big parties on the waterfront and Spanish Plazas on the Monday which are also well worth the visit......What a party atmosphere. The party is non stop all day and you can wonder round and catch parades at different points and places whilst still enjoying the rest of the city. Be warned you can quite easily be cut off from your hotel by the parades so planning a bit is necessary. There are 1 million people on Bourbon Street on Mardi Gras which is not a pleasant experience unless you have paid for a very expensive balcony place. Aviod it on the day and enjoy it on the Monday or any other day, its still partyville but much more enjoyable. Beware of pickpockets. During the carnival and build up there are all sorts of County, State, City and Federal cops around so safety is not an issue,, We never once felt threatened. As soon as its over they all disappear and the atmosphere changes back to the everyday feel of New Orleans which is..... well just keep your eyes open and your wits about you. We felt safe no more and were glad to be leaving. New Orleans is not the cleanest of places, you will see and this was the end of a trip which started in Nashville taking us through Tennessee to Memphis, Mississippi and Louisiana and that theme is pretty common. Hygiene is not a factor, don't expect to much just enjoy the trip. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed, as did everyone we met, the Mardi Gras experience. You just have to do it if you get the chance.

A Fantastic Time
lut 2020 • Pary
My wife and I viewed the parade from the Blake hotel balcony. Where we saw The Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club and Krewe of Rex. Lots of beautiful floats and marching bands. It was great to see the US marine marching band. Managed to catch a lot of beads. Only damper was a jerk who knocked over my wife twice to get at beads.

Fantastic experience
lut 2020 • Pary
We stayed in the french quarters and enjoyed the parades. The down side early morning noise as you are on the strip but bonus when the madness starts as you are central. The floats and parade are great, only annoyance would be lots of people on the floats shared goodies with the same people all the time and I counted one item thrown our direction as we obviously didn’t fit the bill. We went to 5 parades and it happened time and time again which could of dampened the experience as the same people were covered already Received all the throws. Top tip throw to people who also would enjoy the catching thrill. We travelled miles for the experience and would of love to see fair play at giveaway time. But that apart it was a great experience to meet the crowds from all over and feel a sense of fun and excitement. Happy revellers from the Uk.

Entrance fee should be free. King’s cake was awful! Raining day and ceiling was leaking! Horrible experience!

Best Mardi Gras!
mar 2019 • Dla rodziny
So much fun! And I'd say even families who live here look forward to Mardi Gras esp the parade of floats and even saving spots to watch is a big thing. So I though this is all about drinking (Hollywood movies person here) but it's actually for families and I base that on items they give out mostly for kids and some were handmade. For New Orleans peeps who make one hell of a parade every year for themselves and share to us tourist I'd give them 2 thumbs up esp for the music, giveaways-beads I got a booboo for trying to catch one, floats, parties, musicians, street dancers. There are also many things to do: Steamboat, French quarter, garden tour, cemetery tour-interesting about the voodoo queen, plantation tours, World War II Museum, food places- they got some interesting food in that side of the US. We did the world of Mardi Gras tour and was able to dress up and take close photos of some floats if it's your first time here that might interest you too.
