Not worth it
lis 2019
I took my daughter there in November 2019 for their Dia de los Muertos celebration. I was very disappointed. In one of the activities, the staff were not attentive to those participating. One of the activities they had planned, and one we were looking forward to doing, was in a small sensory room where you needed a reservation (which was not mentioned on their website). For such an activity, it should have been in a bigger room. We loved getting our faces painted for the "calavera", but that was the only highlight of our trip. If you're looking for a rainy day activity, get creative with home games.

Fun Indoor Activity

As far as activities for rainy or cold days, I think this is a great choice. Not sure how busy it’s gets on weekends, but we went on a Wednesday afternoon. It was quiet, the few kids there were babies and preschool age and we were able to enjoy all of the exhibits at our leisure.
World Brooklyn was super cool with the little shops the kids could play in.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to try out the cafe as they decided to close early. Not enough patrons on a school day I guess.
I thought the admission was high at first but walking through I thought the museum was well maintained & each “shop” had fun things for the kids to play with.
Gift shop prices were reasonable and I got a few books for the boys commemorating our visit.

Lots to do and unique to Brooklyn

I loved the streets and shops exhibit that highlights the ethnic diversity of Brooklyn. The 2nd floor terrace is also a great place for kids to play and adults to relax. And there's an imagination playground (room with those big blue foam blocks) so my 4-year-old was in heaven.

Getting out the house
gru 2019 • Dla rodziny
While visiting family for Christmas for a few days the kids needed to stretch thier legs. My wife and I decided to stay in Brooklyn inserted instead o doing the Manhattan scene which we've been to plenty of times. This was a great alternative for our family. I would not recommend for children over 10 years old. There are plenty of activities, hands on stations, and a small area of animals the kids can observe and touch. Cafe area is basic and rather expensive (even for a atraction) so eat before you go. This place offers all Educators no matter what state your from (just need your I.D.) and NYPD discounts, you just have to ask because it's not advertised.

Very disappointed at the fact there is little space and enrichment fir these poor things.
People know better now and it is not a good example to show creatures in these conditions.
They need to re think as it will put people off( and it should).
Boycott until it gets up to date

Fun for even very young
I visited this museum for the first time with my 1 year old this weekend because of a Dia de los Meurtos event. Turns out most of the activities for that event were better suited for older kids than mine. (They said all ages but I think at least 3 years would have been best). But my daughter very much enjoyed the museum. It’s big but manageable to see everything in a few hours. There are a couple of areas you need separate tickets to enter but they are free - it’s just to assign time slots to control the numbers. Our daughter especially liked the play areas on the lower level, one with water stations, one with oversized building blocks, another with noise/ music makers. She also liked the sensory room, though there were some older kids (like 7-8) acting pretty rowdy. the staff tried their best to redirect their energy but I wish the parents had done something. The sensory room was too hot though. Not sure what that was about. The staff was uniformly nice, friendly helpful and patient. The entry fee seemed a bit high but compared to other attractions in nyc it’s inexpensive. The food in the cafe is pretty good but a bit pricey. The space is nice though -Open and sunny. There are some outdoor play areas that looked nice though we didn’t explore them. All in all a pleasant experience. We will definitely be back when our child is older.

Brooklyn children's museum

My kids and grandson did have a good time but this museum needs a facelift. It's tired. The same exhibits since my older children were little- it's a little worn. Some hits were the sand and shopping exhibits, but most exhibits were crowded since there were multiple camp groups visiting, which isn't anyone's fault, but it certainly diminished the experience for me. The staff is uniformly excellent. Just update the exhibits please and add more! The Cmom in Manhattan has visiting exhibits. But the kids did end up.having a good time, and isn't that the most important?

Great place for kids!

We went Memorial weekend & it wasn't to crowded. Great exhibit's! We took 3 boys ages 1, 5 & 11. The museum was perfect for them. I don't think children over 11 would have a lot of fun here. There's an area geared for toddlers which is great & you can grab a bite to eat at the museum or opt to eat somewhere in the neighborhood..we grabbed a bite to eat at applebees nearby.

Great place for the younger set
wrz 2018
This museum caters to the younger child (5 and under). The grandchildren especially enjoy the water play, digging in the sand, various building blocks, dress up area, and the various arts and carfts activities they have on week-ends. They also enjoy when the sea animals are exhibiited with explanations. Each child is given an opportunity to touch the crabs, sea horses. The older children do not find enough to stimulate them.
