History - The evolution of music was 2 1/2 hrs of great music. Only on Saturdays but a must if you’re in Tenerife. The vocals were on point and they covered so many different genres so something for everyone supported by some great visuals in dancing and acrobatics as well as awesome guitar playing. I struggled to find a review so was anxious about booking but so glad we took the risk. We coupled it with the meal offer at hard rock and again a great experience

If you go in Playa de las Americas it's a must to book a ticket at the flamenco show of Carmen Mota. This show take place at Pramide de Arona and is in the center of the town. Near this building you can find lots of bars, restaurants, shops and a nice fountain :)
I sincerely recommend you this spectacle because is an incredible experience.
I wish you all the best!

If your close to Playa de las Americas then dont miss the Carmen Mota show. We saw the latest called Evolution which was the best we have seen over the last 10 years, simply stunning. The shows are based around Flamenco but this latest shows many other styles of dance with tangos and even ballet style. Costumes amazing music fantastic and the underground theatre is super.Try for end of aisle seats or towards the rear of the theatre as the stage is very wide and the seats not very steeply banked. A brilliant nights entertainment.

Carmen Mota is famous in Tenerife for her spectacular flamenco shows, which also has a touch of theatre in it. It is not just flamenco dancing, but also more innovative and experimental dancing.

At the moment it costs 45 € pr adult and is extremely expensive for the show. Don't misunderstand me the show is good, but if you want to see flamenco, you can visit one of the many restaurants on the island that also offer flamencoshows. At the same time you can have a good meal and a bottle of red for the same price.

Should you choos to see the show and also have a dinner included the price is at the moment 71.00 €. Way to expensive.

Third time over the years and loved it. Very professional and the costumes outstanding. We only did the show and not the meal. Definitely one not to miss.

We went to see Aire at the Piramide de Arona in June which was low season in Tenerife. Consequently there were only about 50 people in the audience in a theatre with the capacity to hold 1800! Collectively we were a little flock of onlookers shepherded into the centre of the auditorium by the booking computer. It was a bit intimidating in there until the lights went down and even then, there were almost more dancers on stage than people in the audience. Pauses for applause were rather uncomfortable affairs testing the resolve of the dancers to hold a 'fixed smile' in the face of adversity.
The work had received rave reviews on TripAdvisor so our expectations were high, as was the price of admission! (EUR 85 for two tickets) We found the dancers were energetic and talented but the performance was a disjoint collection of set pieces with no overall plot or story to follow. For that reason, you need to be happy to just see Flamenco and Tap (ad nauseum!) in isolation. A collection of about 26 dancers colourfully and endlessly 'herd' from one side of the empty stage to the other relying solely on costume, novelty and the occasional light puff of 'stage fog' to keep the audience's attention. Tap dancers offer protracted and sweaty solos which are admirable, even jaw-dropping showcases of their art. But three Tap solos in a row against the curtain can still be a little wearing on the uninitiated.
We felt this to be a rather over-priced and poorly staged presentation showcasing Flamenco and Tap in a way that would be mostly of interest to knowledgeable dance fans. Bear in mind that you could probably have a full day excursion round the island for the price of admission to this show. You'll need to be keen on dance to judge it to be good value.

Malizia is an adaptation of Rigoletto, Verdi's tragic opera from which the well-known "La Donna e mobile" comes. Now set in Seville, it is a curious melange of opera, flamenco, hip-hop, modern stage dance, Stomp! and everything under the sun. It may sound strange, but the combination works to make an attractive show. As the performance shifts between different genres, the part of the Duke seems to shift between different players, or at least that's how it made the best sense to me.

Some reviewers said that you need to to understand Spanish to know what is happening; I can assure you that isn't really true: all of the Duke's part is sung in operatic Italian, and really only Rigoletto's part is sung in Spanish; the dancers are all silent.

Despite being a mix of styles, the individual parts were excellent: obviously the flamenco dance was modified for stage performance, but was first class, as was the opera, and the (brief) ballet sequence. The flamenco singing and band were stunning.

The show is advertised with a line about "the best musical show in Tenerife", which, in the tradition of taking misleading quotes from West End theatre reviews, immediately makes me think that it may be the only musical show in Tenerife! But that would be unfair.

This may give the impression that I have some misgivings, but I really don't, although the story may be a little opaque if you aren't familiar with the opera (I am only vaguely acquainted with it), the passion of the performance and the standard of the individual sequences make it stand out.

Malizia is excellent Entertainment. No need to speak Spanish or Italian to enjoy this top show. It quotes West Side Story and Stomp, as well as favourites from Rigoletto or today's top charts.
The perfectly incorporated Flamenco elements are simply stunning and have dramatically changed my perception of Flamenco.
The stage is very large and uses the full width of the room. To get the "full picture" and really enjoy the dance performances, you need to sit far away from the stage. Thus the cheaper seats are the better. Unfortunately, the sound engineer has done a lousy job. The speaker tone has been set to the few modern music pieces, as a result Opera sounds "canny" and the life Flamenco band is to heavy on the Bass. Moreover, action on the far left side of the stage, corresponds to sound that comes from the middle of the stage. That's is irritating.
Nevertheless, a brilliant performance worth much more than the price of the ticket.

Me and my boyfriend (we're 27) went along to it - we saw on the huge screen outside (when sitting at Absolut Harry's bar) the previews for it and were very intrigued.
It was 45 euros per person to see Aire which at first we thought was a lot and on the leaflet given on purchasing the tickets it was posed as a ballet so I have to say we were a bit worried.

I should not have been worried at all. The building itself is full of character, when you head down the stairs to the entrance they have a bar serving soft drinks, champers and beer ranging from 5-8 euros. You can smoke in the bar area. Then you enter the foyer area where you can buy souvenirs of the show in teh break and afterwards (DVD 25 euros), the toilets are also in this area and were very nice.
You then head inside and are seated by the staff, their seating is 1,3,5,7,9 etc not the usual 1,2,3,4,5 and the rows are also numbered. We had row 16 and seat 1,3 so aisle seats because the man in the booth explained he prefers it a bit further back so you get a better view.
We had bought our tickets the morning of the show we were the last row and I would say it was at most just under half capacity not including the balconies. They offer you booster seats for the small and children. The theatre itself was well air conditioned and in very good condition, it didn't look very old and the seats were very comfortable. You cannot whatsoever take pictures or film the show and they are very strict about this and will tell you to put it away if you do try.

The show itself was fantastic and we'll both be talking about it for years to come to any family and friends that will listen.
I would explain it as more of a Spanish/Flamenco musical without words. It really was worth every penny. The lighting, music, band, singing, dancers, costumes and support staff were amazing and I really enjoyed the solo flamenco tap dancing etc! The dancers constantly have smiles on their faces and we both commented on the fact they all look like they put their heart and soul into the dancing so would imagine you get the same performance every night of the week. The different ways in which Spanish heritage/culture is shown was brilliant. You can tell too that they all have a laugh and they enjoy working with one another.
All in all a fantastic show but seemed to only be on for a limited time - if you're going to Playa De Las Americas soon - go to see this show - you won't be disappointed!
