- mark b4 contributionsPleasant SurpriseThis was a great museum, enjoyed it much more than the stuffy, fussy, we're going to call the national guard if you try and bring a water into the museum, Country Music Hall of Fame. Numerous interactive displays and focused on session musicians and instrumentalists. Great place to really learn about the musicians who have made music and Nashville happen, as opposed to looking at Taylor Swift's 4th of July outfit over at the Country Music Hall of Fame.Toniok12, Thank you so much for visiting the MHFM. - Matthew F1 contributionGreat Experience and Great peopleThis museum has so many instruments that my head is still processing all of the timeless pieces. The appreciation shown for session musicians is apparent immediately upon reading all of the information associated with the "places" like muscle shoals, capitol records, and Motown. On top of all this I had the great pleasure of speaking with the founders daughter who only made the experience that much better with her sweet demeanor and amazing stories. It's a real pleasure to meet people like Britt who are willing to share the amazing stories she inherited from her father (a man that went through great lengths to help preserve and memorialize timeless music history). Saying I recommend this place would be an understatement, I absolutely suggest you go at least twice to really take it all in.Matt, thank you for your incredible review. We are so glad you had such a wonderful experience, and look forward to seeing you next time.Written June 25, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2023Written June 16, 2023

There are a lot of great displays of memorabilia and actual studio and recording instruments in the tour. This museum is downtown. It is worth spending a few hours to wander through. The focus is not on one genre or the faces of famous individuals but rather on the process and people behind the scenes.
There are actually interactive booths where visitors can explore producing, songwriting, mixing...
Additionally the exhibits are grouped by the city and recording studio best known for a particular genre: Motown has Detroit, Memphis was Sun Records with the start of Rock n Roll, Nashville for country, etc
Videos and artifacts abound in each section.

Don’t waste your money on the audio tour. You have to hold the device up to your ear to listen. I found it difficult to see the buttons in the dim lighting, The audio only gives you a very brief overview and does not describe what you are seeing behind the glass. I have difficulty standing for long periods and this museum has plenty of open spaces that could easily accommodate more benches.

I would really recommend this tour. It was so interesting to learn a lot of the behind the scenes of the musicians. It took a good 2 plus hours. I definitely liked the interactive part that let you play instruments and sing along. Terry was one of the employees and he was great! Answered any of our questions and gave us great recommendations for food places while we stayed in Nashville!

We were blown away by all the music history on display at the museum. The museum has a good flow for walking through the different sections, and the pieces on display were remarkable. The museum is a must see when you're visiting Nashville.

We spent about 2 hours experiencing this museum. My boyfriend is not a country fan, so I thought he would enjoy this museum more than the Country Music Hall of Fame. This venue gives you the history of many types of music and there was a lot to see and experience. Really loved the Jimi Hendrix experience. Great music playing all throughout the rooms. A great education for music buffs. It is a little overpriced but I got a great 2 for 1 deal on Groupon. Well worth checking out when you visit Nashville.

While this destination isn't probably as well known as the Country Music Hall of Fame, it's equally impressive in the amount of items and information they have. You can tour at your own pace and there are many interactive exhibits. We're glad we did this.

This museum is well laid out and the exhibits are very thorough, and rich with artifacts and information.
There were lots of odes to those who helped propel to the limelight the many celebrities we've come to love. Not to be missed is the Jimi Hendrix Exhibit. Best part of our tour!

Being in Nashville, my husband wanted to go to the Musicians Hall of Fame. I, on the other hand, am not really into music and thought it would be boring. Well, I was rudely mistaken! This museum has everything from old musicians to new musicians. It even has a room full of interactive equipment for visitors to try out. I had such a blast using the DJ booth and attempting to be the best DJ I could be! You can try out a studio room and practice your singing skills as well as stand on stage and try out all musical equipment. It was not crowded at all which gave everyone time to read the plaques, check old the displays, and play with the equipment. Very clean and very friendly workers all around to assist you with any questions, comments, or concerns. I highly recommend!

As everyone said, it is separate. We did JC museum the day before and it was very good but a little pricey for what you get unless you are a fan. If you aren't a HUGE JC fan you can get enough on him at the Musician's Hall of Fame-which, btw, was DEFINITELY worth the time and money!

We stayed near the Grand Ole Opry for the first 2 nights and then 2 nights downtown at SoBro Guest House. This gave us a good representation of Nashville. There's a whole world off Broadway that I'm sure a lot of visitors don't see.

Is the Rolling Stones exhibit up and running. How long to see both the museum and exhibit. Can you buy tickets at the door or do we run a risk of not getting them. We were going to come on a Friday.
MusiciansHOF
Nashville, TN1 contribution
Hello! The Rolling Stones is currently up and running. They will be at the Musicians Hall of Fame until the end of July. The Rolling Stones Exhibit takes about 90 minutes and we like to recommend about 2 hours for MHOF. Both the museum and Rolling Stones Exhibition are self-guided so you can take however much time you need.
You are more than welcome to purchase tickets at the door. We try to get tickets as fast as we can so even if there is a little line you won't be waiting long. We look forward to seeing you on Friday!
If you look on our website the price breakdown for each museum is on there. If you have any further questions please feel free to call!

Hello! Our expansion, the Grammy Museum Gallery, will be open by the end of 2015. Construction and installation is ongoing, but is not obstructing any of the current exhibits. Appropriate adjustments will be made if there are noise issues. Hope this helps! Feel free to call the museum at (615) 244-3263 if you have further questions.
