This is a very special, unique and beautiful bridge. Its iconic status along the Oregon Coast is well deserved. I nice view of the bridge from the waterfront and a nice view of the harbor from the bridge. Well worth seeing.

The Yaquina Bay Bridge is one of the McCullough bridges, completed in 1936 as part of the Highway 101 road project. We've lived in the area for many years and have been across it thousands of times but still think it is beautiful!
When driving across, notice that the lanes are the old narrow 10 foot lanes. All highway lanes used to be this width, but nearly all of them have been widened to the modern 12 foot width. So, there is not a lot of room for wide vehicles such as RVs and big trucks, especially when there are bikes. I wish all bicyclists would be courteous enough to walk their bikes across on the sidewalk! Sometimes they clog up the traffic and the cars have to crawl along at about 5 MPH :-(
On July 4th, people line the sidewalks of the bridge to watch the fireworks in South Beach. If you have a chance, walk below the bridge to see it from a completely different angle.

There are used needles and discarded condoms throughout the walking dock in this bridge. Totally avoid.

Riding a motorcycle over this bridge was exciting with a 360 view of the surrounding area. Almost made me turn around and go back over it again and return! Loved it!

Came upon this bridge heading South to Yachats after turning off highway 20. Beautifully designed with such character. They don't make them like that anymore.

You're on the 101 and you have to cross the water and you find this construction to take you over.
The USA has many bridges (far more than where I come from) because it's a big country and has many rivers and bays. Some are very basic and get you from one side to the other and some have a bit more style like this one.
It's worth a stop to take a shot to add to your memories.

This is a beautiful bridge! It is easily viewed from the park on the Newport side- this park is awesome for sunset views!. It is also easily seen from the Rogue Brewery/Restaurant, with a little walking trail through the pier. The only downside- it is not lit up at night.

Never reviewed a bridge before, be here we go. I drove over the bridge while staying in Newport several times. Not once did we fall in the water.

Another nice vantage point is just NW of the bridge. Heading south on HWY. 101, take a right just before the bridge and continue toward the right (toward the ocean) and park your car in the lot. Then walk back toward the bridge from the lot, on the south side of the road and you'll find one or two great views of the bridge, sometimes including wildflowers.
