Lovely beach with great walks
sty 2021
Herne Bay is a very pretty seaside town with great local shops and restaurants. There are excellent walks to Reculver and Whitstable and if you cycle, you might venture all the way to Margate and Broadstairs. I’d highly recommend a visit.

A really lovely place for a spot of promenading
paź 2020
Decided to travel to Whitstable from Canterbury via Herne Bay and so glad we did. Lovely views of the bay and up & down the beach, with the harbour and pier and an egret fishing in the shallows. Wind was quite bracing but it looked gorgeous. The beach huts are very attractive too - especially from behind (ie not the beach) funnily enough. Amy Johnson & Barnes Wallis are heroes of the town with statues commemorating them (particularly re WW2 work).

I do like to be by the seaside......
wrz 2020 • Dla rodziny
A lovely space to enjoy time with family in accordance with Government policy. There are different textures i.e. pebbles and sand. The outdoor gym area is a good idea. Suitable for teenagers and adults. The childrens' play area is popular however concern it is far too crowded bearing in mind the pandemic we are experiencing. Sadly as with many beaches throughout the U.K. the rubbish left by visitors is dreadful. More waste bins may help. BBQs on the beach (without use of Beach Hut) should be stopped as there is not only litter but even more food for seagulls. Action should be taken to prevent visitors feeding seagulls. They are not hungry and are just thriving with extra food given to them.

Thank you to the cleaners with mobile trolleys who work hard to maintain clear walkways. Think the council should give them an extra reward and presentation.

Weekend away
wrz 2020 • Pary
Our first weekend away and time off work. We chose Herne bay for somewhere different. It was calm, peaceful, clean and well kept. Didn’t realise Barnes Wallace and Amy Johnson historical connections to this place. So many eateries, ice cream outlets and arcades to fill a few days

a family-friendly sand beach
wrz 2020
Herne Bay East Cliff Beach may be quieter than Herne Bay Central Beach but the East Cliff Beach is unfriendly shingle whilst the Central Beach is family-friendly sand. There's a bandstand (concerts in non-Covid times) but, at least, there's a cafe where you can get snacks and drinks. Behind the beach, there is a promenade (which is both pushchair and wheelchair friendly) and some well kept gardens. For the more active (and fitter) there's some exercises. The beach is also dog friendly.

Depressing seaside resort
sie 2020
Came here to see the beach and to have some sea food such as crab etc. Very disappointing with the beach, the pier and the overall appearance. Food was bland, over fried fish and chips everywhere so we didn't linger. Staff at the restaurants we tried were so disinterested and didn't want to help or assist. Never again. Went down to Margate which was a huge improvement

Nice beach in a traditional seaside town. Added attraction of a pier. Good fun. Lots of kids ‘crabbing’!

Underrated coastal Gem

We had a lovely couple of days staying at Herne Bay. There is plenty of free parking and a lovely quiet beach. The beach is stoned but is still great for paddling, sun bathing, kite flying etc. There is a small pier where you can go grabbing, have a drink plus a small fair for the younger ones. It has everything you will need for a relaxing day/days. There are some nice parks towards the reculver end and plenty of eating/ drinking places. We much prefer Herne Bay to Margate.

Not quite what we were expecting but probably our fault
lip 2020
We visited on a Sunday morning, being the first weekend after the easing of lock down.

It was probably not the best day to form an opinion as it was horrendously busy as you would expect - plenty of bikers. To be honest it resembled Blackpool or Skegness so whilst not for us, I fully accept for those with young families who want a beach (or pebble) experience and some fish and chips and rock and a go on the slots then it could be for you.

Parking was predictably difficult - as we headed east on leaving there were some nice old houses which gave you an idea of Herne Bay a hundred years ago. In summary it wasn't for us - we found solace in Broadstairs in the afternoon but I fully acknowledge it will be enjoyed by many visitors/day trippers.
