Something different

Took my boys on a little adventure- they sipped lavender lemonade and helped pick me a bouquet. We wandered and took pics. The oldest (9) people watched and many were speaking French, he was so interested, it helped broaden his horizon a bit. We will go back.

"RELAXING SATURDAY ESCAPE"

Lavenlair Farm in Whitehall, NY. A lovely morning drive to a lavender farm not too far from the Capitol District, Lake George and Vermont. Stunning views of pastures, mountains and clear blue skies. An historic stone farm house and 5,000 English and French lavender plants for you to cut for your personal bouquet. (they provide scissors.) Colors range from white - pale pink - dark lavender. Lots to do: lavender labyrinth, Tai Chi, Yoga, tours, gift shop with their own products. Gorgeous place for taking photos. Will revisit next Summer. Cool places to visit on the way home: Whitehall, NY -- Birthplace of American Navy, a great brewery in Fort Ann, NY and the Outlets at Lake George!

Beautiful place to cut some lavender. Very peaceful. We listened some to a tour that provided a lot of info about the types of lavender grown there at the farm. Small ship with lavender products made there, including candles, essential oils, potpourri, etc.

If you like lavender this place is a must. Several acres of lavender plants. More than 30 different varieties. You can pick your own lavender to take away. They have lots of products you can buy from candles to creams to honey. Well worth a visit.

Tour the farm and cut your own lavender

The farm is beautiful now and growing. We took an hour long tour and it was very worthwhile. I'm looking forward to going back earlier next summer as they close after Labor Day and much of the lavender has been harvested already. There are still a lot of great products to pick up in the gift shop.
I"m also going to check back as there is a plan to schedule more events at the farm.

Most EXCELLENT Lavender Farm!!!!!! Folks have a small gift shop with their own lavender products as well as their own lavender honey! Free to walk into the row upon row of lavender! For five bucks you can pick a nice little handful of all the different color flower stalks. Amazingly beautiful soothing peaceful place! We will definitely go back again and again and next year they will have plants for sale! YAY!

A pleasant detour

A group of us decided to stop by after tasting the delicious lavender jelly from this farm while eating lunch at a local restaurant. It's a pleasant drive off the beaten path. There is a quaint lavender building - the gift shop, right next to the parking in the grass. The adjacent fields have both English and French lavender. Visitors can pick/cut lavender, take a tour (scheduled times - check ahead), walk the labyrinth, take in the intoxicating aroma from the fields, browse the shop and learn something from the knowledgeable owners. A very pleasant way to spend some time - beautiful setting. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

You can spend 1 hour or 2 hours for an enjoyable experience.
We spent 1 1/2 hours to pick lavender, check out the store, and walk the labyrinth.
The best part is the view of the property, the mountains, and the fragrance.
It is important to check ahead about the types of lavender in bloom if you prefer certain types, eg, culinary.

Ladies, you need to visit this place!! Bring your children. You’ll learn so much about lavendar and its uses. You’ll enjoy the peaceful qulity and the scents. Your children have plenty of room to run. The owner is so friendly and forthcoming with her knowledge.

There no charge to enter. There is a small fee if you decide to cut some stems to take home and there is a great little gift shop with lots of samples.

Be aware that there are many many bees among the plants. I did not see anyone get stung and we were all cuttig the plants with bees right on them. I don’t have allergies so they were not a concern but if you do, now you know.
