Very informative

We made a reservation and toured the Landmark Center on our own. We had the entire place to ourselves. The woodworking rooms were very interesting. There is a lathe on display that fell off a ship in Europe around 1790, was picked up by another ship and brought to America. The original owner, who had been transporting it to America, was located and the lathe was returned to him. Incredible! There is also an original Louise Nevelson, a famous New York sculptor, on the ground floor. There is also an interesting exhibit on black women baseball players that is worth looking at.

Walked around the outside, not open to visitors during our time due to COVID restrictions. Still beautiful to see.

A Jewel of St Paul
sie 2019 • Pary
We were spending a morning exploring St Paul on foot when we came across this striking building and discovered that it was open to the public, allowing us to have a good snoop around. It's a beautiful place - a landmark in more than just name - which has been put to use in many different ways in the course of its lifetime, much of which is explained in detailed exhibits throughout the building. Perhaps most interestingly, this was the courthouse where John Dillinger's partner and associates were tried. We enjoyed exploring these exhibits and really needed more time to take everything in. Exiting the building out to neighbouring Landmark Plaza, you'll find several small statues of characters from Charles M Schulz's Peanuts comic strip - another of the Twin Cities' gifts to the world.

Thank you so much for your kind remarks! Your experience and discoveries within Landmark Center are EXACTLY what we envision for our visitors. We hope you will stop by again when next in Saint Paul, and take a free guided tour that provides more in-depth information and stories about the architecture, people (infamous and famous), and times of the building. Free public guided tours meet Thursdays at 11am and Sundays at 12pm at the Information Desk. No reservation needed. Again, our thanks!

Fascinating historical building that was not only saved from the wrecking ball, but beautifully restored
gru 2019
I was visiting St Paul from the Boston area and decided to tour the Landmark Center because it was within walking distance of my hotel. They offer a guided tour on Thursdays, when I happened to be there. The tour guide was excellent, telling us all about the interesting history of this beautiful building. Unbeknownst to me, the Schubert Club sponsors a free concert on Thursdays in one of the old courtrooms. I nixed my plans to visit the Capitol building and stayed at the Landmark Center to hear the Delphia Cello Quartet play. Complete serendipity. It was an oasis of sound on a snowy day.

Thank you for your lovely comments about our beloved Landmark Center! On a snowy day in St. Paul, I can't think of anything more scenic than historic Rice Park flanked by a snow-dusted "European castle." Thank you, also, for your complementary words about our tour guide. He loves this building and its history and it shows during his tours! We are delighted that you "found" the Schubert Club's weekly "Courtroom Concert" (free!) lunchtime music series - always a delight, and always a full house! I will pass on your compliments to them, as well. We hope you will return to St. Paul and enjoy another free public program at Landmark Center - perhaps in the summer - when we offer free public tours of Rice Park and the historic, architecturally significant buildings that ring it.

Beautiful historic building

Gorgeous venue for a wedding reception. Lots of things to look at if you don't know the people at your table! Interesting background on building downstairs on the way to the bathroom. Food was awful though according to the price paid by bride's family. Bland and not that good.

Thank you for your candid comments. We are glad you found the building a historic and lovely venue for the wedding! That's sad to hear about the food - not sure who catered, but hopefully the bride's family gave them feedback. At Landmark Center, one of our attractive features for couples is our "open door" catering policy which allows licensed and insured caterers, contracted by the client, to cater their event. This policy ensures that our clients have their pricing, tastes and any dietary restrictions met. Thus, although we do not have an exclusive caterer, we welcome many in the building for our rental events. We hope you'll come back to visit and take a tour of this architectural gem!

Landmark Center is a must see if you go to St Paul, MN.
sie 2019
It is a gorgeous must see building. It has quite the history. If only the walls could talk. It has a courtroom that John Dillinger and gang were prosecuted in. The Wood Turners Association has a museum with the most beautiful woodwork you have ever seen. You can get a history lesson, lunch and visit their gift shop for some really fun and different items to buy. Don't forget to go by the Old Post Office so you can get a bit of history just by pushing a button. Oh and you can get married there too.

Thank you for your enthusiastic endorsement of Landmark Center! You are correct that a visitor can spend an entire day learning, exploring, and viewing! I must amend your view about John Dillinger - he never actually stepped foot in our courtrooms! His beloved moll, Evelyn "Billie" Frechette, was tried as an accessory to a crime in our courtrooms and Dillinger was none too happy about that! Gangsters who were tried in this building included Alvin "Creepy" Karpis, 'Doc' Barker (of the Barker-Karpis Gang) and a number of other criminals tied to that gang...along with bootleggers too many to count! Please visit again!

Wonderful, Charming Area in Saint Paul - See the Peanuts Characters
lip 2019 • Dla rodziny
Landmark Center is in a great area of Saint Paul. Across the street is a little "park" space. The water fountains across the street are neat. The Peanut character statues (by Charles Schultz) all around are cool. You see Linus, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder and Lucy - all the favorites. I think my wife even found Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

The Landmark Center Building is gorgeous. At one time, it was a Federal Court House and Post Office Building. The city considered tearing it down. Fortunately, it was preserved. It's now a venue for the arts.

We didn't try it, but there's even a restaurant on the lower level of the Landmark Center.

There is no charge for the Landmark Center.
Parking is a little inconvenient. The space we had allowed only 30 minutes max. I had to run back and feed the machine once or twice.

The Landmark Center is a Must-See attraction in Saint Paul. If you can, spend a little time on the nearby Mississippi River. There's a nice park on the other side of the river

Thank you for your very nice remarks about Landmark Center and our city! We are so pleased you enjoyed your visit to both. We often have visitors remark that Rice Park, with Landmark Center and the other historic buildings surrounding it, remind them of a "European square." Glad you got to spend some time on the river - Saint Paul, is, after all, the northern-most port on the Mississippi!

Historic Building with Surprises
cze 2019 • Pary
Really enjoyed seeing this building. There is a small lunch bar there that had great food. Nice cool place to eat. We were so surprised to discover two free musuems on the second floor. One was a music keyboard museum with multitudes of old pianos, etc. The other was a wood turners musuem. Both were very interesting. Glad we went to see this place.

We are so glad you came in and discovered all Landmark Center has to offer! I will pass your comments on to Chef Jeff Conlin, owner/operator of Anita's Cafe, and to the Schubert Club Museum staff and the staff of the American Association of Woodturner's Gallery of Wood Art. They will be so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit!
