About
This 12th century medieval castle, one of the best-preserved in Vendée, has well weathered along the centuries well and managed to retain all its charm. Today, the castle contains a museum inside the keep.

A nice castle to visit, with great views and a lot more information on local history than one would expect from a local castle. Important moments in history during Dutch invasions and after the French revolution were very well explained and visualised.

Well worth a visit

The castle is good attraction, takes you 30-40 min to walk through. Nicely restored, but don't expect more than it is, a castle. Cultural stop in a sunny island.

It's small but well preserved medieval castle. Has a deep history of enduring attacks from the vikings, Spanish, English and Dutch. The submarine and mermaid exhibit on the top floors are perfect for young kids and parents alike:)

Gorgeous castle steeped in history from the last 1200 years. If you are in search of culture while here then a visit here is a must. Great views from the top too.

Lovely castle in a beautiful little town. Spectacular views from the top. Interesting to see but no guide in other languages as you find elsewhere. This made it hard to appreciate fully the history of it but well worth a look around. Friendly man on reception...very nice and helpful.

Great view from the roof, imposing position. Fascinating exhibit abt WW I in Noirmoutier, including history of "undesirables", foreigners forcibly interned for 5 years in the castle itself, including writers, artists, and francophiles. A little too much material to read, with not enough space to sit due to the volume of info. Worth a visit, but too expensive for Greek visitors!

A nice castle in the middle of the town. Not loads to do for English speaking children- they enjoyed climbing to the top but quite a lot of money just for that. In an out in less than an hour

The day we visited was open free to the public with late closing. How lucky we were. Built at the end of the 12th century it is
well preserved and a fine example of medieval architecture. It was used as a residence and in time of wars as a prison. It is now a museum. On top of the tower there is a great panoramic view of the area. Well worth a visit
