Not to miss!
While adults pay $18 per ticket, the hour tour is worth it! Very knowledgeable tour guide. On display- China place settings from many train companies, a large collection of lanterns, artifacts, train depot built inside the large display room with original furniture, paperwork ( tickets, schedules) collected from defunct depots.
The tour includes a walk thru a Victorian Flagler train car that measures about 72 feet. Elegant! This care was built in 1890.
The last place on the tour was a a model train set up, 15 x24 feet. Such a detailed set up.

Very interesting, lots of train memorabilia, advertising, the Flagler car is exceptional. Patrick did a good job, gave us plenty of time to look, ask questions, and learn. The museum is much larger than what you can see from the restaurant, so we were pleasantly surprised. They added the Flagler car since we were there last and it's impressive! Definitely worth the price of admission (we are seniors).

Brought my train buff brother here for lunch at the Whistle Stop Restaurant and to tour the museum. The food was good-he loved his burger as well as the ambiance with the artifacts and G Scake train overhead.
The museum was a treat and our guide had lots of interesting tidbits for us. We enjoyed walking around outside to see the crane and wooden boxcars. There was hype about the Monon caboose that was original inside and restored outside. Could only see the exterior. Would have liked to see a locomotive or two. None on site.
An informative visit and worth the drive!

To be honest, I have not been to a lot of "train" museums, so I do not know how this compares. However, I have been to a lot of museums, and this one is extremely small.

The memorabilia is very well presented and preserved. They also have several old train cars on the outside of the museum (which also has a restaurant).

If you are really into trains, this is probably a good place for you to visit.

Well worth going thru after having dined in their superb restaurant. Mecca for train lovers. Give yourself a couple of hours to truly absorb all that is there.

This is a fantastic collection of railroad artifacts and memorabilia. There is a new display of an HO train set that has it's own room. Children would love it! We were fortunate to have a tour by the owner, Dale Ward. If he is available, I would highly recommend having him. You might call ahead and ask if he would be available as he is not there all of the time. Lots of one of a kind artifacts. This is an out of the way place but worth visiting. There is an entrance fee. There is The Whistle Stop Restaurant which is connected. The food was very good.

A fun collection of local and transcontinental railway offerings as well as artefacts and collections inside and outside. Having the restaurant was a real bonus.

The admission is $5.00 and it includes a tour guide, though you can tour without. Many of the exhibits are outside, the larger ones, but the inside boasts the largest collection of rail china, as well as locomotive bells/whistles. There is one main room, and everywhere you look, there is history. And the guide is so knowledgeable, it is well worth it to have one. It is a private collections which means that the items were purchased for the most part. I can't even begin to describe the depth of historical items you will see. I suspect that I will have to visit it again and I will still see things missed on the prior trip.

I took my train obsessed three year old son here, and he absolutely loved it! We drove about an hour to get here, and it was well worth the drive. So much to see, and we even got to go inside a caboose. The gift shop was nice, they had some interesting train things that you can't buy just anywhere. The prices were reasonable also. The man working at the museum was very nice and helpful. We were very impressed with this place, and will be making several return trips soon. Well worth the drive!!!

We visited with our son and his wife who live in west Lafayette IN. It was very interesting and the collection of rail related items was incredible. We loved our tour guide Patrick who was very knowledgeable.
