There were combative kangaroos (roos in local language) They are wildlife, so is not a surprise.!!!!

A great place to walk along undulating paths and tracks

The kangaroos were there to greet us when we arrived and there was plenty of spare parking space. The walks have been well planned and are varied. We did the short circuit walk and enjoyed the views and speculated about the geology of the area. There were toilets and a picnic spot near the path's beginning / end (perhaps some shade here would be useful). However the picnic area is near one of the car parks. Don't forget to check the online information for more details about the possible walking options.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience at Plenty Gorge Park. There's lots of picnic areas and walks to enjoy in the park. We're so glad you were able to experience a short walk and see some great views. Thanks again, Parks Victoria

Many Kangaroos

This park is quite extensive and covers both grasslands and forested wetlands. I explored around Hawkstowe Railway Station and saw many waterbirds and kangaroos. It is an easy way to introduce people to wildlife close to the city and suburbs

Peaceful getaway

Lovely place to take a relaxing walk in the bushland. Often see kangaroos here (actually most days, particularly at dawn and dusk). Have also seen foxes, echidnas, lizards, snakes (poisonous so beware) and a huge variety of birds including cockatoos, galahs, eagles, kookaburras, magpies, rosellas, ibis to mention a few. I counted 9 varieties of bird on our walk last week.
It's a great getaway for locals to escape the hustle and bustle of suburbia and the noise of Plenty Road! The parkland area is extensive and there's a river running through- I believe that platypus have been spotted (I've not seen them). There are some nice walking tracks too.
Like the other reviewer mentioned there are places along the parkland where you can grab a bit to eat- Carome Homestead, Farm Vigano...

A gem in suburban Melbourne

They are various places you can visit this lovely parkland. You can be guaranteed to see kangaroos at Hawkstowe park. You can walk down to the Blue Lake at yellow gum recreation area (listed in Plenty). The middle gorge has a great viewing area. Another good spot are the parklands off kurrajong view in mill park. Or for something different visit the two beans cafe at the old homestead building. You can even camp at Nioka bush camp (but need to book).I absolutely love these parklands that offer so much variety.
