Angel Island State Park highest point
mar 2019 • Dla rodziny
About an hour hike from the ferry dock to the top of the island. You can see the island by tram, rental bike or bring your own bike on the ferry or hike the 5 mile perimeter loop. Biking takes about 1-2 hours. Restrooms along the perimeter route, food at the ferry dock. Take the first ferry if you aren going to rent a bike.

Great hike with magnificent views!

I would consider this hike moderate (and I'm 75 and out of shape) and worth the climb. There is more than one way down to the ferry boats. We took the long way and it nearly killed me so I would suggest if you are not an avid hiker to take the shorter way down. Also some of the hike (especially the long way down) is in the sun with little shade. So take care!

Angel Island and Mt. Livermore were an unexpected pleasure
maj 2018 • Pary
We went to Angel Island thinking that it was going to be some nice hiking, esp up Mt. Livermore to have some great views of the whole San Francisco Bay area. That didn't disappoint!! The hike is relatively easy being only a little over 2 miles up to the top. The trail is easy to follow and is in pretty good shape all the way up. We had planned to go down the Sunset Trail but freelanced onto another road that took us more quickly down to the Perimeter Road. That road was much steeper than we would have liked but did get us down the Mt. fast. We stopped into see Fort McDowell and the Immigration Center and both were really fantastic for all of the history behind them. We also were able to see Camp Reynolds (at least what we could see from the Perimeter Road), the Nike missile site and the batteries Ledyard and Wallace. Overall this is a great place to learn a good bit of history of the area. Angel Island is much more than a nice place for a hike. What a nice way to spend a day in the outdoors. Well worth the $15 we spent on the Tiburon Ferry (about a 5 min ride on the water).

Excellent Hike - Spectacular Views
lip 2016 • Pary
This is a modest hike with the steepest section being the long staircase that rises from the ferry/port area. After that, it is a slow rise to the top.

Highest Point Attainable

At 781 ft, an easy peasy hike accessible either through Sunset Trail or Ida Trail depending on which direction of the island you are starting from. From the top, you are rewarded with a panoramic view of the bay.
Depending on how fast you hike, allow yourself a minimum of one hour to get down to Ayala Cove to catch the ferry.

360 degree vistas over the Bay
sty 2016 • Pary
This is a great outdoor activity for the whole family. The climb is not bad and the reward is always guaranteed (unless it's foggy...): incredible views over the whole bay, all bridges, SF itself and the cute towns on the coastline. We took a short 10-minute ferry from Tiburon (which also is wonderful!). Bring a good camera with you!

Best Views of the Bay
lis 2015 • Biznesowy
I was in Tiburon doing some filming and we were based here for a week...

Stunning views and images of the Bay including the Golden Gate bridge, fog banks and shipping...

You'll need a car or sturdy walking legs - but well worth it...

Mt Livermore on Angel Island is a pinnacle spot for fabulous Bay Area Views!
wrz 2015 • Znajomi
A ferry or boat ride to Angel Island offers the opportunity to hike up to Mt Livermore for fantastic views of the Bay Area. A major fire burned much of the brush & trees off Mt Livermore but the area has recovered nicely and offers splendid vistas.

Panoramic viewpoint atop Angel Island
kwi 2015 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
It's on a lovely largely undeveloped park of an island in the middle of San Francisco Bay, accessible only by boat. There are great views in all directions (depending on the fog that day). It's a bit of an uphill hike, made slightly worse by the recent regrading to restore the peak's profile to the original - a NIke missile site from the Cold War had required flattening the top, but is now gone. If you want to see one of those, there's one still in the Marin Headlands nearby, complete with missiles. It's a great location to see the Golden Gate and the city and the East Bay as well as the Tiburon Peninsula and Sausalito. There are no stairs or elevators, so be prepared for something of a hike. The path around the island's base is about 5 miles, and there IS a tram that runs down there. There's also a cafe and info center at Ayala Cove, where the ferry comes in from Tiburon.
Anyway, on the right day, it's the perfect place to try out the "panoramic" function on your new camera/phone!

Mild hike, great views, an all day adventure with a ferry ride
lut 2015 • Znajomi
It's a little adventure right next to the big cities. You need to take a ferry, land to the island with a lot of history, hike a mild trail up to the top and enjoy a great view. If you're into history - there is plenty of it. The weather is mild all year long. What else to add ... Well, the infrastructure is very basic, so it has that outdoorsy scout feel. However, the places around (Marin county and San Francisco) will over compensate with the shops and restaurants and all nice luxuries you can think of once you get off the island. So it's a kind of a playground in the middle of the city on grand scale - the city part is represented by magnificent San Francisco and fairy tale cute Tiburon and Sausalito and the playground is a real island in the beautiful Bay. Can't go wrong, totally fine to take your kids, parents or a loved one - everyone would enjoy it.
