Nice get away
lis 2019
This is a great place to really get away from traffic, people, etc. It's a beautiful place with well groomed trails and a fishing pier. Careful though the walk from the parking area to the point is further than I expected. Although there appears to be a shuttle?

Beautiful forests, meadows, bay views.
maj 2019 • Znajomi
A good place to run off-pavement. Beautiful bay views. It's mostly flat, unlike the trails in the hills. There are many dirt-road trails, and many hold up well to wet weather. A loop of it can be about 4 miles. There is a good fishing pier, which as a paved road to it. There is shuttle service to the pier from either of 2 parking/entrance areas. I can be windy. The combination of open space and forest, and shores facing north and southwest, enable one to find areas to escape heat or cold wind, depending on the weather and wind direction. The south end has picnic tables and jungle gym. There are drinking fountains and restrooms around the park. It is an area of historic interest as an old explosive facility, with old bunkers and a powder press to see.

Training

I come here to train for my half marathons, good place to practice your uphill runs. Lots of bicycles during the weekend, the view is worth the trip.

Nice place to get some mild to moderate exercise
mar 2018 • Dla rodziny
We enjoy coming out here on occasion for fresh air and exercise. The exercise part starts as soon as you park your car, as there's a bit of a paved incline walk to the actual park trails and area. Time it right (more accurately by chance vs by timing) and you can stand on the entrance bridge as a passenger or cargo train passes directly beneath, kind of neat for kids to watch (adults too if you like trains). Once into the park a bit, one can find a few different paths to take, each offering varying views from trees to coastline and water. While one will encounter some inclines, there is nothing very intense. The paths are such that one can walk or jog or ride a bicycle (we've walked and cycled), solo or chatting with someone or a group. Follow the trails far enough out and you'll end up at a pier on the shoreline where people are fishing or sightseeing or relaxing. Point Pinole offers a variety of views and environment (shaded, sunny) for just about everyone, and one can get some good exercise in or have a nice time in a round-trip venture that shouldn't take more than 3 hours at most (unless you stop and sit/eat/etc)

Great walking trails
wrz 2018 • Pary
We enjoyed coming out here for an evening walk after dinner. It does get very windy being by the water. Even if it was a warm day out, you still may need to bring a jacket with you to be comfortable. Plenty of places to walk and get exercise or sit on a bench and look out over the water. Large parking lot with bathrooms and dog friendly.

Excellent place to stretch you and your furry friend's legs
sie 2018 • Znajomi
Many trails to choose from, all of which mostly flat and low impact. Doing a full circle around the outside comes out to somewhere between 3-4 miles, though there are many shortcuts in between if you're looking for something a bit shorter. Beautiful nature all around, and friendly folks everywhere. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a relatively easy hike/walk.

Quiet and Beautiful

Went there for a hike mid-week and it was just amazing. Beautiful water views of San Pablo Bay. Could see from SF to Napa at various points. Lovely views of Mt. Tamalpais, Mt. Sutro, and the Carquinez Bridge. The hiking was mellow, since you have to park and walk to the sights. Highly recommend.

Large park - many hiking trails.
lip 2018
This large park used to be a dynamite factory. After many explosions it became a regional park with eucalyptus groves, meadows and (mostly flat) bay-front and inland trails. Picnic tables here and there, some basic out houses with more refined facilities at the parking area, It can be hot and dry in the summer but should have good birding during the winter months. Interesting facts and history of the site can be found with a web search.

Free, flat (mostly), and a fun walk
cze 2018 • Znajomi
Middle son (age 25) wanted to go for a hike and have a Father's Day experience. So we went on Monday and it was gorgeous. A spectacular day weather-wise, great views and great trails.
Saw osprey right over the fishing pier, as well as close-ups of young pelicans, and watched two guys land the largest bat ray I have ever seen caught in the Bay. Best part - they carefully removed hook and returned to the water. we took the longest rail possible by always choosing the perimeter trails, and I guess it was about 3 miles. Couldn't beat the company, weather or price. Give this place try. Bring the kids bikes!
