Famished or not, fine eating here!
lut 2020 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
This is one of the three well-established restaurants around the Abuelito plaza, and offers reasonably reliable WiFi in addition to their tremendously delicious meals! I had just returned a rented upright to “SHILA” 20FEB2020, and, though I had not gone far (just to the point if exhausting my “aged out” body—I had to walk up two of the short/steep hills), I was certainly ready for much-needed nutrition. This superb eatery was a bit pricy, but it was worth every single peso! Meeting people from around World in this location really makes visiting here the best! The service was fast and the food essential. It certainly gets my hearty “iWheel of Approval!”

Dientes de Navarino Trek in 3 Days 2 Nights (Jan 30 - Feb 1)
lut 2019 • Pary
We got extremely lucky with the weather (only rain, hail and sleet) and were able to complete the trek in 3 days and 2 nights.

We were almost put off by the number of people saying you need some mountaineering experience, excellent navigation, and map reading skills and that only the most weathered hikers should try the southernmost trek in the world.

While it is, of course, true that there is absolutely nothing on this trek and that you are in complete wilderness, the trek can be doable by most people.

Day 1 - Arrive in Isla Navarino from Punta Arenas. Walk 5km from Airport to town of Puerto Williams. register at Police Office, get hiking brochure, lunch in town.

Set off at 2pm from Puerto Williams to Laguna Del Salto. Arrived at 6:30pm.

Distance Covered - (including airport to PW + walking around PW) - 17.8 km

Day 2 -

Laguna del Salto departure at 9:30am. Arrived at supposed stop (Laguna Escondida) at 1:30pm. 1 hour lunch. Set off at 2:30pm to Laguna Martillo. Arrived at 6:3pm.

Distance Covered - 17.7km

Day 3 -

Set off from Laguna Martillo at 8am. Reach Laguna Los Guanacos at 1:30pm. 1 hour lunch. Set off from Laguna Los Guanacos at 2:30pm to Puerto Williams. This is a decent in which there is no clear trail, but as long as you keep heading down to the water (and the road) you will be fine. Arrived at the road around 5:30pm. Started the 8km hike to PW and got picked up by locals and dropped off in town.

Distance Covered - 22,6km

Notes:

Bring food from outside the island, it's more expensive in Puerto Williams (and you have less choice)

Best trek I've ever done

Almost no one on the trail

Trail well marked (could have gotten lucky with weather)

The Trek is on Maps.me

Happy Hiking

Really good roite description can be found in Chiles natinal park site, rutas patrimoniales. Both spanish and english. Pay attention to precautions mentioned in the description. We had good weather, but I can imagine some descends can be dangerous in bad weather.

Wild, technical and astonishing trail course
gru 2018 • Znajomi
The most beautiful trail race I´ve ever been to. We did the course in 10 hours or so in the context of the "Navarino Trail Race". This wild course is quite dramatic and absolutely enjoyable. You really feel like you are coming back in time to a prehistoric age. Such are the untouched landscapes you experience in this course, which is quite technical. In this 50K trail, different surfaces challenge you: Dirt narrow trails, steep ravines, water crossings, turba (uproar), coastering, small and huge slippery rocks, deep mud, slopes of stones (expect a huge steep slope near Km30 mark or so). All, passing through different landscapes and more than 30 lakes and lagoons. The water of Navarino is said to be the world´s purest. The turba complex system is responsible to filter huge amounts of water as interconnecting so many rivers and lakes. Definitely the most pristine and beautiful place to experience true nature. Bring your GPS along with the course. Otherwise, download a KML, KMZ or GPX file to use with Maps.me or Google Maps.

Beautiful and off the beaten track
lut 2018 • Pary
The landscape is stunning and dramatic. Beautiful lakes and views ocean and if you are lucky you can have a view of where the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans meet.. Off the beaten track, but unfortunately it is now being found and many people are leaving garbage and waste behind. Not sure why people go to a beautiful place to leave it trashed:( , but it is still an amazing trip.

Great trek with untouched nature
mar 2018
This is a great trail. The nature is truly untouched and the views are spectacular. Having said that, it is good to prepare physically and carry the right equipment given that is a very rough and demanding circuit. It is awesome to have the trail almost by yourself just seeing 3-5 people a day. We did it in 4 days.

Best trek ever // Alone in the wild
gru 2017 • Znajomi
We did the trek with three friends in 4 days/3 nights, which was not to stressful since the days in December are very long.

Puerto Williams - Laguna de los Dientes - Laguna Martillo - Laguna los Guanacos - Puerto Williams

The trek was good to find in the first day. After that it was sometimes hard to find official sings but the stone markers were good to keep the track. You should definitely have a compass (App) with GPS coordinates if you loose your way and have to find your way back to the „hitos“. You can find a brochure in Spanish/English in the internet for free (PDF for download) which was very helpful and well written.

If you have no experience at all in the mountains you shouldn’t go by yourself! Two passages are very risky in my opinion if there is rain or snow, the frozen lagoon and the steep 300m slope to laguna los Guanacos.

Bring a wind/storm approved tent and a sleeping bag that holds 0 degrees Celsius in the nights. Waterproof shoes are necessary. We didn’t use sticks.

If you want to do a trek that is nearly untouched and not touristy like Torres del Paine...this is the place to be. Best and most beautiful/peaceful hike I‘ve done in my life so far. We met 8 people in total the whole four days. :)

In three words: though, rough and wonderfull. 😀
Trekking is great, campsites enough but prepare (as everywhere in Patagonia) for four seasons in one day.

Great wilderness walk
gru 2017 • Znajomi
Fantastic walk across varied terrain with incredible views - see it before it gets crowded out! Our group had done a lot of trekking but we hired a local guide. This really enhanced our experience - especially when the weather set in!
