A must-see in Shiraz
mar 2019
Ali Ibn-e Hamze is another amazing shrine in Shiraz which has a lovely and quiet atmosphere. It was really enjoyable to watch the onion shape dome, carved wood door and green mirror works.

of course, but prepare yourself for the extreme interior decoration with glass and mirrors once inside the shrine. Women must wear cadeaux

Beautiful shrine, the mirror work is spectacular yet doens't detract from the holiness of the site.. If you are female and with a female guide you may get to see much more. The shrine seems to be specifically a place for women. The welcome centre is staffed by lovely people, if you want to find out more about Shia, then this is the place to do it.

This has to be one of the most beautiful man made places my eyes have ever seen. From the outside, the Persian tile work is gorgeous but not that different from most places in Iran. The true glory of this site lies within. Once you walk in you’ll probably stop dead in your track from amazement. The entire interior of this shrine is laden with intricate mirror work in ornate geometric patterns. It’s simply outstandingly beautiful and you could easily sit down and stare off into the splendor of it all for quite sometime. Just be aware that this is a shrine and a place of worship so make your way inside with respect and don’t whip out your camera and start a photo shot with disregard to where you are. People more than happy to let you inside even if you’re not Muslim but just take care and be respectful so everyone is happy.

Ali bin Hamza is a sacred figure for Shiites, he was prosecuted by the caliph and fled to Shiraz in 805, but after staying hidden for a while, he was finally found and killed. Later on around 950, the local ruler built him a shrine which was later developed further. The very old entrance door and the red stone inscription inside are interesting

If you want to see the glory and soul of Iranian mirror art, you should see this place. It's one the most famous shrines in Shiraz and is a holy place for Shia's.

True soul of Shiraz

One of the best shrines of Shiraz, 1 of the best muslim holy sites I have ever visited. Beside the stunning glass/mirror interior, the relaxing and meditative garden and the warm hospitality and great spiritual chat with the two girls in the visitors' area (I forgot their names, shame on me...) will give you a great religious experience, similar if not better than many other places in Shiraz (that still remains quite a liberal city considering the amount of religious sites). It's free entrance, freedom to take picture and ask questions (of course, pay respect to the pilgrims who are visiting and praying the tomb). Non muslims and foreigners are warmly welcome and you feel like a guest of honor all the time. Very close to Hafez Tomb.
