My experience in Colon- Entre Rios
cze 2019
One of the best places that I've visited in Colon was this: Molino Forclaz. I went with my two grandmothers, last year. I enjoyed the landscape! It made me feel peace. Also, I could know the interesting history of that place. I like history and there are many things of the period. The story is about a foreign family whose surname was Forclaz and their hard work. The mill was constructed by Juan Forclaz. I hope that you can visit it, if you have not done yet. You will enjoy the trip!

Preserved 19th C windmill, mule-driven mill and miller’s home.

We took a remis(140 AP=$7) from the Bus Terminal, 6 km west to this rural museum. After paying 25 Ap each we walked 150 meters to enter the tall circular stone and brick windmill. Built by Swiss settlers in 1888 it has endured a lot of weather and the loss of upper level access, but one can get a feel for the workmanship, seeing all the iron gears and shafts and accompanying woodwork. After discovering the wind was not dependable, they constructed a second mill, mule-powered, next to the miller’s home. Here we could further inspect all the operational gearing and climb to its upper levels. The adjoining house preserved several rooms of period furniture, clothing, photos of community threshing, and owner genealogy. The surrounding grounds had a score of wagons, farm equipment, including a Case tractor, to explore. We walked back through the countryside noting all the subdivisions for sale, uncompleted hotel, a small cattle drive, and many nice properties by newcomers, on our 4 mile return to our apartment near the terminal.

How to 'do' the Molino Forclaz
maj 2017 • Dla rodziny
A great place full of history, there are 2 very well preserved mills, set in a large park with a childrens play area. Firstly if you are planning on going, aim for an afternoon on a weekend when you are more likely to see the theatrical animated story. We missed it!! as the lady on the gate forgot to tell us it wasn't on! Apparently its very good :( None the less you can spend an hour here absorbed in history and trying to work out how all of the sections of the mills actually worked. Every hour there is a small talk inside the windmill by an excellent well informed guide. Take a picnic with you and bottled water there are no food options. Spend an hour here and relax on the grass :)
