Exhausting but worth it!

Beautiful daily walk if you want to explore Parque General San Martin and climb up to Cerro de la Gloria. You can go by foot all the way (not for everyone), on a bike, or maybe just take the bus if you want and hop off at the monuments base. The General San Martin monument was closed to the public, so was the toilets at the top (hope they fix everything soon), anyway the view at the top its breathtaking and worth every step of the way.

The best sight in the city of Mendoza?
mar 2020 • Pary
Recommended by a tour guide, we discovered it is beyond the Park, beyond the football grounds and up a massive hill. We took a taxi and asked him to wait 15 minutes. Seems to be normal and he was happy: c15 minutes drive from the central square. You wont find a random taxi to bring you down. The tourist bus comes here, though.
Anyway it is a terrific, huge monument, with tremendous detail. There are views through the trees of the Andes on one side and the city on the other. It’s pretty popular with tourists and fitness freaks who walk or run up. There’s a decent looking cafe here. We were unseemingly pleased with ourselves for taking the advice to visit.

Once you can reach the top of this Hill, you can enjoy beautiful views over Mendoza city and surroundings. Also you can visit the Gral. San Martin monument.

A monument to the liberation
mar 2019
The Cerro de la Gloria or The Hill of Glory is where a very large bronze monument weighing fourteen tons sits. It pays tribute to the Army of the Andes for its successful campaign of liberation. The monument is the work of Uruguayan sculptor Juan Manuel Ferrari, along with the many other Argentina sculptors. Work began in 1911, as part of the celebrations of the Argentina Centennial of 1910. It was inaugurated on February 12, 1914 which was the anniversary of the Battle of Chacabuco.

Magnificence overlooking Mendoza

I hired a car and driver to give me a multi hour tour of the city. Went at my preferred pace, saw what I wanted and not what I didn’t. This great park and monument is a destination for local runners and visitors

Beautiful park of historical significance. Good coffee and refreshments at the top of the hill. Some craft vendors as well. But the best is a rewarding views. I would recommend a stop there...take a taxi to get up there but walk down hill to appreciate the park.

A beatiful monument
gru 2019
At the top of Cerro de la Gloria, there is a big monument dedicated to San Martin who from Mendoza crossing the Andes went with his soldiers to Chile to help in the liberation of Chile. The Cerro reminds me of Bear Mountain in NY because of the turns and views when ascending to the top.

Nice statue. Not the best view from the top because of the trees. Worth a quick visit while in Mendoza

Suerte
