Can be more interesting
lut 2020 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
It’s already interesting itself (with the help of the guide I was with), but it could have been more interesting if the information of the rooms were also in English.

Probably the best mueum to visit in Alta Gracia!
gru 2019
This is the only Jesuit Estancia in Cordoba that is located in the center of town, which already makes it even more special. If you can get a tour guide to explain the Jesuit History, which is quite interesting, it's definitely worth it! The art work is wonderful and if you're lucky enough to visit during one of the Estancia's yearly Baroque concerts, you're in for a real treat!

Alta Gracia has a historical past and known for a healthy climate.
The Jesuit priest were forced by higher powers to flee and blacks were abused and sold.

Lots to see and to learn
paź 2018 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
It is clearly THE PLACE to visit in Alta Gracia. Hear and learn about Jesuits history and art, admire old pieces of furniture, climb on top of the church to admire the surroundings.

Make sure you reserve a free English speaking tour-guide if you do not speak Spanish

This place is interesting by any standard, but your experience will be totally different if you arrange a guided tour of the premises. We had an amazing guide who gave us in-depth understanding of the politics, economy, history, architecture and art of this place as well as the whole area. You come out so enriched - the tour was supposed to be an hour but lasted two and all was free of charge. If you have time after this visit, do watch the movie "The Mission" with Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro (1986) - you will have a good understanding of what really happened here during the time of the Jesuits. For English tour reservations call 03547-421303.

Well preserved 2000 UNESCO site in delightful small city.

We took a remisse (50 Ap) for the 2 km east from our Obispo Trejo apartment to the Neuva Terminal de Omnibus (T2), where we were instructed to walk ~200 meters to Boletos Booth #5 for round trip tickets(200 Ap) then walk back 125 meters to Platform #79 to board the 9 AM Sierras de Calamuchita Bus.
We arrived in Alta Gracia at 10 AM disembarking at the 1653 El Tajamer Reservoir. We walked across the park to the 4 story clock tower and across to the Jesuit Estancia Complex. It was free today and filled with visitors. After stopping at the interior's clean restrooms, we spent an hour touring the museum rooms filled with 19th C furnishings, as if the viceroy had just departed. An inner courtyard had a blacksmith shop with tools and equipment, other rooms with models of the site and of the water powered grist mill.
The 1643-1762 church was beautifully done with a gilded vaulted nave to a pale blue transept dome and gilded altar with 4 roped columns. The facade dominated the town's central plaza, which we walked around before stopping at the clock tower's Visitor Center. Here an English speaking attendant marked the return bus stop on a map, just 270 meters southwest at Paravachasca 246.
We were back at Cordoba's Plaza de Espana before 12:30 PM, making this a lovely morning day trip to one of the 6 estancias of the "2000 Jesuit Block and Estancias of Cordoba".

Jesuits
cze 2017 • Pary
When the Jesuits were expelled in 1767, the estancia was left to the elements, only briefly reinhabited in the 1810 by Viceroy Liniers. The Estancia buildings have been well preserved and overlook the town's main square, Plaza Manoel Solares.
