    Worth the trip
We rode our scooters saw monkeys on the way and at the national park as well. The hike is steep and lovely luscious jungle. Then down the the beach for a swim and a float. Loads of hermit crabs and shells. Expect the 200bt entry fee and enjoy ! Stop on the way home for lunch at one of the lookout restaurants or Tuesday mornings cafe (yum). Great day out and then we rode home in a mad downpour of rain which was a first and kind of fun !!! Monsoon season has been lucky for us. Only minor bursts of rain and very few people around. We have loved our 7 days on Koh Lanta.

    Different activities!
We had visited this National park before on several occasions and always enjoy our visits. Entrance to the park is some distance from the beach and, this being Thailand, foreigners pay more even if you live in the country! The cost for non Thais is 200THB but it’s well worth it. Drive down the hill to the large car park from where you can walk down to the beach( you may well come across families of monkeys). Swimming is possible depending on the weather and tide. To the right of the beach, it’s possible to climb up to a lighthouse although care is needed on the steep path. There are some interesting rock formations and good views of the coastline. If you’re really feeling adventurous, there’s a path through the forest for which suitable footwear is required. It’s quite steep in places and slippery after rain. There are a few parts which seem a little neglected but it’s worth the effort. Some of the trees are amazing and look down as well as up as there’s some interesting fungi in and amongst the roots. We heard but didn’t see monkeys. Depending on who you ask, the distance is 2-3 kilometres. There are toilets and a shop near the car park. We would certainly recommend a visit.

Check this place out, loved it.
We went here on a whim and are soooooooo glad we did. This was the best experience we had on Lanta and could even go to say the best we’ve had so far in 3 weeks in Thailand. The place was spotless, not a piece of rubbish in sight. This is probably due to the 200 baht entry cost per person. It’s worth it for the cost to keep this National Park pristine. Steep decent on a scooter into the park, make sure your brakes work. The 2km walk/hike was one of the most picturesque ones we’ve done. Fun, tricky and uneven in points so make sure you are able to go up some steep descents while pulling yourself up a rope, the first 400m of the hardest, it gets easy as after that. Don’t wear high heals like we saw one woman wearing. I did the hike in my EVA Birkenstocks and was very comfortable. Slow down and enjoy the walk, listen for the birds, watch the monkeys in the trees, see the racehorse lizards and ogle at the incredible plant life. Being water as we smashed 1.5L very quickly. You walk under the tangled green canopy of the jungle most of the way but you’ll get sweaty that’s for sure. Most people we saw were going very fast and seemed to be rushing it. I would definitely recommend slowing down and enjoying the place. Other people hadn’t seen the wildlife we did when we asked. Check this place out. Loved it

Nice park to discover with a 1 hour walk through the jungle
The national park is located at the extreme south of the island and is reachable by motor scooter or car. You first get to see a nice beach, where we would have loved to swim, and the light house. You can then do a 1h walk through the jungle, which is fun, but pretty exhausting, mainly because of the heat and the path going up and down constantly.

    Beautiful beach experience
Amazing beach! Great hike in the jungle, but quite rough on one end (depending from where you start) due to no proper stairs, as the clay is very slippery. We did not see many animals neither.

Great place to visit if you like walking
If you hire a scooter like we did for a day, the road has some steep inclines and descents towards the national park. The views are great along the way, with some restaurants, cafes and bars. We stopped at the Why not Bar on the beach on the way back which I recommend. We paid 200THB each to get in and 20THB as had a scooter to park. Two ways which you can do the nature trail. Either past the beach first if you go left out the parking area and through the trees to the trail. Or the way we went was up the steps first which is through the parking area. You will need suitable shoes like trainers (not flip flops) as there are some steep inclines with ropes to help you up the path and some high steps. The path itself is through is quite up and down, we love to walk but it did test us at some points. If you are lucky like us we some monkeys and other wildlife. Great day out if you like walking and a quiet beach to relax on.

We visited Koh Rok which is part of Lanta National Park and bought two entry tickets for 400baht each. Expensive but Koh Rok is great and we were told by the rangers it was valid for 5 days for all of Lanta National Park. As we were moving to Koh Lanta the next day that was great.
Except on visiting the National Park in Lanta the day after we were refused admission and told repeatedly by staff the pass was not valid and only lasts for one day. We had to insist for ages and cause a real fuss before they would let us through with a dismissive wave.
Somewhere the staff are wrong. Either it is valid for 5 days or it is not. Given the reviews of tourists experience of Koh Lanta National Park we suspect we know where the fault lies.
We simply do not know whether this is incompetence or another of the scams reported by others.
Either way it is unacceptable.

Really not sure what you are supposed to see there except the stretch of a beach and some very average trekking trail. The entry is 200 baht per person + the parking fee and we spent there 20 minutes or so and realized there’s really nothing to see. I guess it’s ok if you’re very bored, just know what to expect (not much)

Well worth a visit - beautiful nature with a lighthouse, two beaches (one sandy paradise beach and one rocky beach) and a nature trail. It was very windy when we visited so we didn't spend any time on the beach, but walked the forest trail. It took just over an hour, int the company of 2 children aged 7 & 9 and a grandmother aged 74. The trail is actually quite steep with a lot of steps, so bring plenty of water as it'll be a sweaty hike. There are some information posts along the trail about some of the trees and plants you pass.

Very interesting place to visit but you will need transport. There is plenty of parking spaces, toilets and a small shop. National Park staff are very helpful and there is helpful signage.
Like all National Parks in Thailand, there is a dual admission price. Thai nationals 40baht, foreigners 200 baht and vehicle fee 30 baht.
The coastline is very photogenic- beautiful beach (deserted when we visited) and a number of rocky outcrops with the lighthouse situated on the highest point.
The other side of the car park is the forest trail and if you're energetic it's well worth the effort. The fist few hundred metres are the steepest and could be slippery after rain but there are some wonderful rain forest trees and plenty of bird life and some inquisitive monkeys. The trail ends back at the beach.
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this National Park and wouldn't hesitate to go again.
Highly reccomended.

I walked the nature trail with my husband. We did see a few monkeys and a snake but apart from some insects it was a jungle walk. It cost 200 bhats each, which was taken at the entrance. Whilst I love jungles, I'm in my 60s and can't do anything too strenuous. This is a very strenuous walk with lots of deep steps both going up and down and a very rickety bridge. I found it very hard going!

The Mu Koh National Park is one of the must visit locations on Koh Lanta. There is an entrance fee and, as so often the case in Thailand, foreigners (including those living in Thailand) have to pay considerably more.
There is a large car park, toilets, prayer room and a small shop. National Park staff are friendly and helpful.
There are two options within the National Park- exploring the rain forest section ( reviewed previously) or the beaches, coastline and the lighthouse. On this visit we chose the latter. To get to the lighthouse isn’t necessarily easy as the short climb does include sections of loose stone which could be tricky if wet or if wearing the wrong footwear but it’s worth the effort. There are a number of very interesting rock formations and many photo opportunities but care is needed. Unfortunately there was a considerable amount of litter which seemed incredible given there were litter bins in the car park.
In the other direction there is a wonderful beach which has always been deserted when we have visited…golden sands with the sea on one side and the forest on the other.
Well worth the admission fee and lil worth visiting.

Really beautiful nature and a peaceful beach. To get here scooter rental is highly recommended. Try the nature trail which takes about 45 minutes to walk if you are in good condition (not 2 hours) to get a pure jungle experience, there is a lot of steps though so this is a sweatty activity. 5/5
