Only a single mural (of 53) can be viewed properly.
paź 2019
The walled park surrounding the palaces is very pleasant (restrooms are in the parking lot outside) with some great trees, including a magnificent 500 year old "fern leaf hedge" willow (Tamarix chenensis), but the murals are a severe disappointment, dark and inaccessible. There are said to be 53 murals in the three palaces, but most cannot be seen. In fact, only a single large one, in the center of the Dabaoji Palace, can be properly viewed, as those on the walls on the passages surrounding it are blocked off, those in the Liuli Palace too high and too dark to be seen, and the Dading Hall was closed when I visited in October 2019. Overall, very disappointing; don't expect much.

Interesting place to visit if you are in the area anyway. Glad we had a guide with us to explain the significance of the mural. Enjoyed trying to decifer the language pictographs.

Definitely worth seeing if you're in Baisha Village

It's fun to see how many of the pictographs you can figure out. It's a very long wall of them out in the street.

Nice Setting but Poorly Maintained

We came here before visiting Baisha ancient town. Bought tickets and entered the small complex of quaint temples/palaces (Dabaoji, Liuli, Wen Chang, Jin Gang) with preserved murals (wall paintings) which took over 300 years to finish involving numerous artists from Ming, Qing and Han dynasties, also Naxi, Tibetan and other nationalities. You can find most of these in Dabaoji (built in 1582) depicting religious figures, especially Buddhism, and daily life scenes.
We didn't do prior research, no guide explaining things and no English labels either so we just walked around without understanding things. The setting was actually beautiful with lush plants in the courtyard and pools. It's a pity they were poorly maintained (visited in July 2 years back).

Pretty cool to see. Located in heart of Old Town so it's easy to walk to so you might as well come see it and snap some pictures.

Went after a long day up in the Jade Dragon mountain. There was only one mural (poorly lit to protect it from further deteriorating), and not much explanation about the content. Normally I would be very interested in such a place, but this was quite a let down because I (wrongly) expected to see a few murals, and that there could be a reproduction somewhere explaining in ore details. We went on our own and it's not obvious to us where the mural was located.
