Lots of great shopping and some interesting restaurants. Traffic can be heavy at times and it's not a mall, so you may have to move your car a few times to visit everywhere you want to go. I recommend planning your trip a bit ahead of time so that you aren't driving around trying to find everything on the fly. It's quite spread out and on both sides of the main thoroughfare with different entrances/exits.

The Summit has a great variety of stores for great shopping not only at Christmas but all year. There is a large department store named Belks as well as Specialty shops that offer everything from phones & computers to sporting goods & bath products!
As far as food offerings there is a great variety of delicious items.
I highly recommend the Summit for a great shopping experience.

While in B'ham we always stop in at the Summit to eat and shop. This time we were disappointed that several shops we always visit are no longer in the Summitt - Pandora and Sugar Boo Boo. There seem to be plenty of other jewelry stops but it's not the same! We also had to ask about a restroom and were told public bathrooms were not available, except in individual stores. This is rather inconvenient. This, however, will not deter us from coming back each year.

This is an upscale open shopping area with several different sections. You can usually find what you're looking for here and there are a few very unique shops and restaurants/bars. My only complaint is that one really has to drive section to section as its a hike to different sections especially in inclement weather or extreme Alabama heat and humidity. Plus there is no covered parking and it can be extremely congested with traffic.

Lots of stores. Lots of walking. Nice that they have speakers outside playing music as it makes the walk nicer.

Parking up by the theater and walking down to Panera is nice. The walk back up is up the same hundred steps you went down - so good exercise.

A variety of stores from upscale to department stores. Prepare to move your car to the different areas as they are separated by a busy road. A lot of walking to see all the shops. I like the variety of restaurants to pick from. Nice to visit Trader Joe's and pick up some groceries.

If you could assign less than one star I certainly would. I just spent over 20 minutes in Restoration Hardware at the Summit waiting for someone to wait on me (or even speak to me) and obviously they do not need my business because they did not even acknowledge me although they looked over at me several times. There were three sales associates and at the very beginning they were each with someone but then one became available when her customer left and she immediately disappeared to the back of the store. Again keep in mind they all saw me and said nothing and when the sales rep finally came back out from wherever she went, another person walked into the store and she asked if she could help them. Wow! I wanted to purchase a king bedroom suite I saw in their catalog which would have been well over a $10k purchase but I guess they do not need my business. I’m taking it somewhere that someone will actually acknowledge you walked into their store.

Every time I go to the Summit I fall in love with it even more! It’s beautiful and it has so many shops and restaurants! The only downfall is that I can sometimes be confusing to get to the shops you want but that is really in any mall if you are not super familiar with it!

The Summit offers the most comprehensive, upscale and diverse mix of shopping in The State of Alabama. Shopping is "in the air", if you will, from the time you arrive until you depart; open-air shopping center, pet-friendly, well maintained with clean stores/shops, immaculate groundskeeping, adequate parking (less the Holidays but even then it's not 'impassable') and built for the inner shopper in all of us. You have your 'anchor' stores, your boutique shops, upscale dining and some of the best dessert options in The Southeast (within such a small radius) - Nothing Bundt Cakes, Steel City Pops, Cheesecake Factory, both Johnny Rockets and Flip Burger have great milkshakes and they are opening a Frutta Bowls (a "Healthy" but Tasty alternative to the aforementioned). If you are in/around the Birmingham area for more than 48-72 hours, I highly recommend your cutting a 1/2 day out to experience The Summit shopping experience: as places like this are a dying breed.

I had time over Christmas break to spend sometime shopping at the Summit, just for the fun of it. Great upscale shops and restaurants. Enjoyed walking outdoors to the different stores and restaurants. Great shopping area, great place to visit when in Birmingham.
