Convenient Shopping/Castle Views
paź 2019
We found that this 6-floor, vertical shopping mall next to the Himeji Train Station offers a wide variety of shops and services that would likely appeal to many tourists. If nothing else, it is a place to browse or to have a cup of coffee while waiting for a train. We came across boutiques, traditional Japanese sweets, souvenirs, a food court, tax-free shops, a supermarket and a Tokyu Hands Store, which features lifestyle products. I especially appreciated the free Wi-Fi and clean restrooms. When we saw a Starbucks on the fourth floor, we stopped to have a light lunch before continuing south on the bullet train. The shop has a corner location with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a stunning view of Himeji Castle in the distance and Otemae-dori, the city’s main street, leading to the National Treasure. The roof’s viewing deck also has a panorama of the same scene, along with benches. As we explored the mall, I noted how clean and modern it is and think that the structure is fairly new. On an early weekday afternoon, we saw few shoppers around. I tried to talk with one sales rep, but she did not understand English. Still, we managed to communicate with gestures, and she remained pleasant and friendly in the process. There is a map of Piole Himeji online.

This is a mall with many levels. All types of shopping is available There is a food court in the basement and there is a place to change currency as you walk through the doors on the second floor. Good place to spend time while you wait for the train.

Newer shopping experience, skip the food court
lip 2018 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
This newer indoor mall style shopping center was very convenient to the nearby hotel and the JR train station. Like most Asian shopping venues this is made up of multi-floors of mixed vendors selling various goods at a full range of prices. The basement floor is the food court area and normally this is a pleasant experience; here there was a very unpleasant smell like old, used cooking oil pervading the area making it less than inviting to consider eating anything. The first through the 3rd floors are devoted to clothing; men/women/children, toys, household goods, sporting goods, and stationary/office items. This is a great time of year to enjoy the sales and discounts going on; some stores had up to 80% off on women's summer clothing. Read signage carefully and always ask if there seems to be an item no longer in stock because not all merchandise is displayed due to space availability. The fourth floor features a travel agent and a Thai massage spa; great massages available there by appointment only though. Same day availability is not always an issue so try it. The second floor has a currency converting machine! A huge convenience to tourists who are looking to shop.

Piole Himeji
maj 2018 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
Piole is a shopping complex adjoining the JR Himeji station. The complex has shops as well as restaurants. It houses boutiques, accessory shops as well as beauty salons. There is a landscaped area in front of the building and that provides a good place to hangout in the evening hours while enjoying the beautiful illumination of the Piole building. The illumination lasts till late in the night and that creates a lively environment in the station area. Not much of a tourist attraction but if visiting, ideal to spend some time during evening hours. The Roof top area has a viewing deck with panoramic views of Himeji Castle and JR Himeji Station.

Shopping center at the train station
mar 2017 • Dla rodziny
It's the place to go just before you catch your train. You have a Mugi on the 2nd floor, Tokyo Hands and Uniqlo on the 5th. The rest is the same of a shopping center in Japan, Starbuck, Family Restaurant, ABC store, Disney store... The bulding is clean and modern. You have also the possibility to go on the roof. You have a small garden on the top and the view of himeji and on the train station.

not important to see, but well stocked

an average shopping experience like any mid-sized city, kind of fun to see what upper middle class Himeji people think fashion is, reminds one what a "department" store was like with Uniqlo and other chains prominently represented as well
