Monkeys
sie 2020
There are warning signs everywhere - with accompanying photos - of the injuries caused by these aggressive monkeys. The long, impressive flight of steps up to the main stupa is so steep that I had to give up half way , probably missing out on a boatload of merit. However the humans on site are friendly. The surrounding statues (including a couple of plaster dinosaurs) are worth a photograph or two as well

Monkeys everywhere!
paź 2019
I didn’t quite know how to react here. I had never seen monkeys “in person” before and some of these had huge teeth and a bad attitude. Feeding time was interesting in that first in got the food. Temples were run down but interesting. Hua HIN, I think is the pick of Thai towns.

Monkeying around with religion
mar 2020
Firstly, I could pan the Wat Khao Takiap temple area for a visit. I won't. It is worthy of a pre-informed visit. Don't show me your gums and teeth at my comments. Nor, show it to the monkeys or the many stray dogs. If you have a catapult, or a watergun, consider taking it. Beware of anything shiny and anything sweet. If you value your appearance, blend in. We, the human race, created this shrine, and we fed the monkeys, and all the other animals there. The monkeys bred, and bred and from my recent visit, even the one with a wonky leg was having a go at breeding. There is some serious erosin around the brow of the far temple, so take care. If you've got that far, then you have no doubt passed hundreds of (long-tailed?) macaques. They're not that bad. They're just surviving and doing a reasonably good job of it too. Respect them, and respect the views. It is worth a wander.

If you have children - take real care.

Impressive
lut 2020
The temple was amazing, lots of steps to the top of the temple, but the views was impressive. The Buddha's was amazing too, lots to see. We took taxi, but you can take baht bus too and walk a few hundred metres. There are monkies running around, but they don't seem to bother people. Recommended.

Buddha would be saddened!!! Wat Khao Takiap looks abandoned.
lut 2020
We have just returned from Wat Khao Takiap (Monkey Mountain), February 11, 2020 and were disgusted by what we saw. On the short road up to the templet both sides of the road leave the impression one is in the middle of a land fill. Piles of plastic everywhere, all road signs partially or completely torn so as to be unreadable. Buildings look and smell like they have been abandoned for years. On the steps up to the temple one encounters monkey feces on the steps and railings. The temple at the top is fading badly and is in desperate need of some tender loving care. Aggressive monkeys are everywhere making one a bit uneasy about being there. However, the view is spectacular. Unfortunately the air quality (read haze) was so bad the far end of the beach and associated buildings were barely visible. The air quality today is 151 which is an UNHEALTHY reading meaning children, seniors and those with respiratory issues should remain indoors. We have been here a month and most days have had a similar reading so that from our condo Monkey Mountain is barely visible. In conclusion Wat Khao Takiap could be a spectacular tourist draw if the powers that be would only pay attention to it. Sadly our rating of this visit is summed up in two words: DO NOT GO.

Monkeys and a view
lut 2020 • Znajomi
If you like to see monkeys everywhere and also see a good view of Hua Hin then head up the very steep hill and visit Wat Khao Takiap. As long as you don’t have food on you or are eating anything in front of the monkeys you should be relatively safe from them pestering you. Go when there is not much haze and you will have an excellent view of the Hua Hin area.

Nice to see, but...
lis 2019
The whole area seems to belong to the monkeys, so beware :-)
Partly nice and interesting, partly would require serious repair works and certainly some cleaning as well.
Donations asked majorly for the cats, dogs and the monkeys.
Minimum of fitness required due to the steps and the up and downs of the hill.
At least, the site is not overcrowded by tourists...

Monkey haven
gru 2019
The monkeys are literally everywhere, Do not carry food or water with you, because they demand tribute. The staff sells food that that can be fed to the monkeys. Never saw such a food craze with monkeys.
Temple on top is quite average, but nice round of bells around it. I personally found it a bit disturbing that while we doing merit and pray in the temple, a staff member was just sitting next to the Buddha play videos with his telephone, with the sound on.
Down at the hill, next to the beach there is a large buddha statue overlooking the beach and sea. The Buddha foodstep spot was closed off, but a lit lower a nice small Buddha in a small cave.
