Dance (Not Walk) On the Sea of Galilee!
This was fun as well as informative and, of course, spiritual. We boarded a boat for a cruise around the sea and the captain taught us the Hora. It was so much fun. After we went to see the boat from Jesus’ time that was found washed up on the shore. It took decades of work and dedication to restore it.

Jesus and his disciples may have used this boat
The Sea of Galilee is in northern Israel. It's also known as Lake Kinneret. The Sea of Galilee has featured in the story of Jesus and his disciples, who were fishermen on the Lake. You can see the Jesus Boat, an ancient fishing vessel, dating from the first century AD. It's quite possible that Jesus and his disciples used this boat.

    The Kineret
A miracle of nature Flavius wrote in the first century and he was talking about the sea of Galilea, other names for the lake are Kineret after the ancient city of Kinorot on the northern shores of the lake, Iake of Getsmany, lake of Tiberias, I guesse there are other names for this beautifull place. It is 209 meter below sea level, very hot during summer, pleasant during winter. Once the only sweet watersource for Israel. Great to take your bike and circle around the lake that will take youone day, only do not do that on hot summer days and be carefull because you ride your bike on a very crowded road. Even better to walk around the lake on the special walking path, that's where I made the pictures, but you need more then a day for that. No problem to stay overnight in the area.

For someone on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, this is about as authentic as it gets. A storm came up while we were on the water for the one hour boat ride. Photographers, it will be crowded, so travel light. A DSLR with a zoom lens including wide-angle capability works well. Weather can change rapidly, so be ready to protect your gear. Travel with a backup pocket camera, which we did. Came in handy when the rains came.

Our tour group of 40 "pilgrims" from USA took a boat ride from one side of the Sea of Galilee to the other. Durning the ride, one of the crew
cast a net overboard to catch some fish........ Alas no luck. It was a very memorable ride to think that Jesus fished on the sea so many years ago. We sang a couple of songs and formed two circles and danced while on board. It was one of the highlights of my two week trip to the Holy Land.

This was one place I longed to visit, I'm so thankful I had a chance to come and visit this place. we stayed at a place called "Daria" at the south east area of the Lake called "Ha Ma". We traveled up to Dan one day, then to Nazareth, we visited St. Peters Church and ate at some local place nearby. We had a chance to get on a boat and sail the Sea of Galilee and it was a dream come true for me, I Thank my heavenly Father for answering my prayers and filling my hearts desire. The sunset here was amazing I was left in awe. I also got baptized in the Jordan River at Yardenit.

I would say no tour of the Holy Land is complete without a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee. Our tour guide Sam, was constantly updating our itinerary to help make this the best trip possible. Many of us on the tour it was our first time to the Holy Land. The day we did the boat trip the weather was warm, sunny and the sea was calm. Our trip was no more than 20-30 minutes, but it was a pleasant enough trip. The next day the water was rough and choppy. We were on the Sea of Galilee Praise Boat. So there was singing on this ship.

The city of Tiberius or in Hebrew Teveria is located on the western side of the sea of Galilee in Hebrew known as Kinnert. Wonderful walkway along the water front with nice fish restaurants and city shopping. There are small ships that take people on short voyage. Very popular for Jews and Christians who connect to their religious and historical traditions here.

This is a high end vacation place for people that live near here. We took a ride on a boat and sang songs and the scenery was stunning. So much history about Jesus and the Sea of Galilee. Loved it.

A boat trip on the Sea of Galilee is a must. We started with the "museum" of the Jesus boat. It's an interesting 10 minute or so video and then an hour boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. It was so peaceful & yet a very emotional experience to be out on the same waters that were so central to Jesus' ministry. I could have stayed out there for hours.

The Sea of Galilee is an important backdrop for so many events described in the New Testament. It was around the shores of Galilee that Jesus recruited his first Disciples, based his public ministry, performed the miraculous feeding and delivered the Sermon on the Mount, to name just a few. We had opportunities to view the Sea of Galilee from several vantage points, including Capernaum, Tabgha and Tiberias. One of my favorite places was at the Church of the Primacy of Peter. Here you can easily put your hand (or feet) into the water! The Sea of Galilee is surrounded by hills, and because of its low position in the Great Rift Valley, sudden squalls can occur. Thankfully, our group enjoyed a serene, but foggy, boat ride. And now for a bit of trivia: The Sea of Galilee is the lowest freshwater lake in the world!

If it were not for the historical significance I would say it is large lake. If you are a pious person you will view everything through a different eye. There are quite a few sighnificant sites covering the northern and the the western part shores of the lake. Oher than that you have the opportunity to ride a boat or take a dive in some beaches for the public, one of which is in the modern city of Tiberias. Photographic tip: try to include some of the plantation of the seashore in your pictures, otherwise your frame will look quite empty just capturing the lake itself.
