Sempu Island is definitely a nature reserve!
paź 2018 • Dla rodziny
The beauty of Sempu Island is certainly a magnet for tourists. But it is not recommended to visit this place, because Sempu Island is not a tourist destination and has the status of a nature reserve. In accordance with Government Regulation No. 28/2011, nature reserves for research, education, nature conservation, carbon sequestration and utilization of germplasm sources to support cultivation. #batulocalguides #letsguide

Secret beach in Sempu Island!
paź 2017 • Biznesowy
Just renting a local boat and the fisherman will bring you around the island but the surface here quite strong and quite long (around 1 hour).

Your body gonna be totally wet! Or maybe you gonna puke. But, the beach is beautiful, hidden and secret. Better you start the trip in the morning. So that you can enjoy longer in the beach.

Sempu Island and Pantai Warna Tiga
lip 2018 • Pary
Sendang Biru is a picturesque harbour with about 130 small fishing boats. Can be reached by car from Malang: 2 hours (about IDR 400k). The main kampong is back over the hill. Fresh seafood is available in the restaurants overlooking the harbour.
Reasonable accommodation (300,000 IDR/ night) can be had at Wisma on the harbour waterfront – ask for Pak Endro.
Its about a one hour, pleasant walk to Pantai Warna Tiga – ask the locals for directions and some of route is signposted. Pantai Warna Tiga is part of the Mangrove Conservation Area which is a very interesting area with a number of nice beaches. They have a system to reduce rubbish in the area which is quite rigorous: they count your rubbish before you go and on the way out. If any differences cannot be accounted for you either have to go back and find your rubbish or pay a fine IDR 100k.
Rubbish management is a good idea because Indonesia has appalling rubbish problems. However, to go to Pantai Warna Tiga you must hire a guide (IDR 100k) which, although giving locals income is a bit tiresome. And at the beach you must swim with a life jacket on, which is also tiresome.
However, you can just go to the first beach, experience the Conservation area and skip the guide/ Pantai Warna Tiga. From there you can access other beaches too. This is what I would do next time.
Pulau Sempu just off Sendang Biru is a cool trip. Contact Pak Salim (08 533 462 3358) to be your guide – he has the small shop up behind Wisma (ask the locals) and also sells beer 😊. Its about IDR130k for the boat & about another IDR 130k for guide, then a one hour walk to the lake (which is actually a salt water lagoon) with the cleanest beach in Indonesia this side of Raja Ampat. Very pleasant spot and the walk is through good jungle. Bring enough water for the 3 hour hike.
If you are into fishing ask Pak Salim to arrange for you to join an overnight trip with the local fisherman – but be aware that there are no life jackets on board. Suggest you check the weather will be fine before you go.

Into the woods
lip 2017 • Znajomi
Pretty beach view with the blue, crossing the sea to the woods by a traditional wood boat, then trekking into the woods maybe around 2 - 3 hours, then you can find beach inside the jungle. You can spend your night by camping here.

Beautiful adventure!

My friend and I took a train from Yogyakarta to Malang and arrived at our homestay at 5am where we had hired a car for 24 hours (with driver). We left Malang at 6am and the journey to Pantai Sendang Biru took about two hours. When we got to the beach, we talked to one of the men who manage the boats and he offered us return boat trip + guide (you're going to need him) for RP260k. You can get it for RP230k I've heard. You should eat and get bottles of water and snacks before getting on the boat as there are no vendors/warung/convenience stores on Pulau Sempu. The boat ride takes about 15minutes, we left Sendang Biru at 9am. The hike through the island takes about an hour or so, it's a relatively easy hike. The beach on the island itself is small but the view is stunning. Our guide advised us not get too close to the rocks as the waves are pretty strong and on the far end of the beach, there are stone fish. Our guide also took us on a short hike across an area of jagged rocks to see the ocean on the other side. As the last boat out leaves at 5pm, you should start hiking back at around 3.30pm just to be safe. You can camp for a night on the island but I'm not too sure if you need a permit for that or not.
