Fort built by royals of jamnagar to aid in days of drought. The fort situated amidst lake is now a museum with not so old but has antique collection of erstwhile saurashtra. But is well maintained and extremely well labeled to make it easy. A skeleton of blue whale is unique to see. Should allow photography.

I visited the renovated fort after decades. The new fort has lost the heritage look but arrangement is nice. Most of the lime stone ruins displayed are collected from the place called Ghumli. This includes Vishnu bust as old as 9th century. The main attraction (blowing water holes) was sealed, when we visited in May '22.

Its a nice walk along the bridge, can see lots of ducks in the water, the fort is small and the parts that are open to public are well maintained, so long as you can manage the offensive stench in the older, dilapitated parts - thanks to bats, pigeons and of course us humans
Photography not allowed inside the museum - it has some very old coins and interesting collection of pocket guns!

Lakhota Fort and Museum is all rolled into one. The fort no doubt is a majestic structure and bears a rich heritage. A local was kind enough to explain to me the origins and the significance of the fort especially with regards to the royal family.
Adding to the beauty of the fort, is the presence of the Talav around the structure with several species of birds and ducks present.
However, at the end of the day, as a tourist even if you happen to miss this out of the itinerary, it is perfectly fine.

This is in the heart of town and is an important landmark of this town.
The visit explains the history of the town.
The museum at the fort closes at 0500pm. so be in time.
This place is abuzz with local people in the evening hours to late in the night. Lot of local preparations are available at very conservative rates
It is fun to visit this place and an important visit to understand the lifestyle of locals.

If you are touring in Gujarat do not miss this place.
The fort is nothing magnanimous but a cute little place.
But the surrounding lake Lakota is astounding with the coloney of the veriety of birds.
But no doubt the Goverment of Gujarat can pay a little more attention for mauntaining the place better to facilitate the migratory birds

This place was interesting, if not inspiring. A strange mixture of things but a nice location in the middle of the lake.
