Serene place but nothing much. Museum Is closed.
sie 2019 • Znajomi
Took a long ride to reach there and was disappointed by how little one can do there. Took the 30 min boat ride and it gets boring after awhile. I was hoping i can see wildlife like crabs but alas did not. The museum in the carpark was closed, unsure if is for good or because is the off peak season. Wanted to go for seafood at the village restaurant opposite the jetty but because we ended off at after lunch time like around 2 pm, the restaurant has closed for noon nap.

Great but limited
kwi 2019 • Pary
So this is a bit of a tricky review. The place is quite peaceful, offering a great taste of natural wildlife and nature growing free, but it is quite a limited experience. As this is a conservation area, they have removed what was once the main attraction - a lengthy plank walk through the forest offering great sights. When we went this has been removed to let the forest regrow and there were no immediate plans to reopen it. There is a limited path still open (maybe 30mins worth) and they do offere boat rides for a 60RMB fee but you can’t get off and it only lasts 30mins. It’s still worth seeing overall but set your expectations at an appropriate level. Also, the bus comes once every 30mins! Be weary!

Great day out of the city
lis 2018 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
I have visited the Haikou mangroves a few times over the past two years, it gets better each year. It's a great escape out of the city. The mangroves are around 30km out of downtown Haikou, downtown been the Guomao area. If searching on baidu or google maps you could copy and paste this into the browser 海口红树林. The boat tour around the Mangroves is now in full operation and costs 60 yuan for a 30 minute ride around the mangroves.

The museum is located next to the carpark, turn right at the roundabout. There's plenty of information in English if you want to learn more about the mangroves and at the rear and walkway that takes you into the marsh areas.

There are small restaurants next to the ticket office, if you want something a little more upscale, walk North from the ticket office for around 2km and there's a nice seafood restaurant. Search this in maps to find the restaurant 连理枝渔家乐 copy and paste into maps.

A total letdown.

Few times I was so disappointed with a place.
First of all they told us it was very well connected, while getting there was a real odissey, among fake taxis and stranded buses. As we arrived, the place was closed, because reasons. We weren't the only tourists stranded there, still there was no one trying to help. Nay, the personnel, apart not speaking a word of English which is forgivable, was aggresively rude and irritating. The plce might be nice, but God I hated every single second I wasted there.

The boats were not operating because they do not work during the National Holidays (Oct 1 -4)! The boardwalk (in red on the photo of the map) is so overgrown that it is no longer walkable: believe me!Was not able to do anything at all, lost half a day. Even the Chinese did not know.

Nice afternoon walking area in around the mangroves
sty 2017 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
The mangrove park is near Haikou, maybe a half hour away. The plank walk around the mangroves is very nice. Many locals come to the area for relaxation. Overall the area is very nice with nice beaches and good food not far from wherever you may be. Plenty of resorts and local hotels are available. Not as well traveled as the south end of Hainan, the area offers a bit of quiet. The customer service was pretty good at the locations I visited.

Undisturbed nature
lis 2016 • Pary
This is a reservation. Small animals are undisturbed by modern society. Birds and small crabs are free to roam in the mud among the trees and plants
People are constantly taking care of and maintaining the plants. The public walks on a boardwalk so you can't mess with plants and animals.
The views of the trees and the river are breathtaking. Cool place for amateur photographers.

There's a small entrance fee of like 25 kuai (don't really remember), but I think if you appreciate nature and its preservation then it's definitely worth it.

Very pleasant walk
sie 2016 • Znajomi
Luckily the day we went, was a cloudy day and hence it was a pleasant walk along the wooden pathway. You can also do a boat ride if you wish. Lots of mangrove have been recently planted and the area has been recently developed. You can see signs of redevelopment all along. If you enjoy a nice walk, then it is a good place to visit.

A nice walk
lut 2016 • Dla rodziny
We've been coming to this area from Haikou for a few years but this was the first time we'd actually stopped for a walk

The Mangroves are well maintained and you can see that there has been some investment in the area. Additionally, it's clean and tidy which I find rare in Hainan

Well worth the walk if it's not too hot and try the coconut rice and fish options at the restaurant at the other end

Flamingoes with small fishes to see. Good museum. Very little shade to hide from the sun during the noonday sun. Lamas are not seen on Thursdays.
